Manufacturer LG would have plans to sell a roll-up television in 2019. The televisions have a flexible 65-inch screen that can be rolled up like a poster. ...

    It just looks incredible.

Beside the price, I am actually wondering about the life expectancy of such a product. How many roll ins / roll outs before some pixels are affected ?

Price: 1 kidney and chunk of liver

But seriously. Who needs this at home?
The only place I would use it is billboards with irregular shapes.

    ^^ "They see me rolling, I burn-in"...
I mean untill they sort the major issues (burn-in, abl, temporary image retention) with oled, this is just a massive gamble to buy something like this as it is probably gonna cost like $15-$20k+. I have friends who got burn-in on their oleds (one on sony other on lg) that were not covered by warranty. One has bbc logo burned in ant other one gaming hud....
All i'm looking at is samsung in the next few years as they have shown that LED tvs can still improve and come super close to oled (while beating it in many areas).

Seen this tech a year or so ago, they're only now bringin it to market. Think I saw it as a cell phone screen.

I see this being useful only if you live in a house full of violent drunks that like throwing and breaking stuff.

lol at the lady smirking when he asks about price / availability. "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

These flexible screens are the latest example of cool new tech that can't find a purpose and and can't be produced affordably.

So, they made very thin (to allow rolling) and easy to break screen and put it into huge, ugly and likely heavy box.
Did I miss the positive part?

I have the first gen LG 55" OLED, LG 65" B7A, and several OLED phones/tablets. Have never had any issues with burn-in or image retention, even when I accidentally left something on the screen for a few hours. You just need to leave the OLED cell light setting between 50 and 80, and put new sets through an extensive burn-in period of watching shows with a 16x9 aspect ratio (much like plasmas).

If your friend unknowingly turned up the brightness on a new set and then left up something with a static display for several hours (such as a news ticker or game user interface), that probably was the cause of his burn-in and image retention woes.

  15. This is a smart idea for corporations that need panels and places that do events or just to eliminate storage concerns and taking up space... it just needs to be refined and made more portable like a roll-up screen for a window'

Just got a new LG Thin Q AI Smart TV 4k HDR10. Works great, except the wifi standard is 2.4ghz. I have an older 4k tv from LG as well, and it even has a 5ghz wifi chip in there.

In that case it wouldn't be long before the violent drunks would be throwing and breaking each other...;)

This video is almost a year old. Nothing from this tech since. Also, not for sale to the general public. Nothing to see here.

OK, but, this is exactly the kind of product that I would buy right now (if it was affordable), due to having kids, lacking space and non-mountable walls in my house.
