    So no one has ever tried setting a custom 21:9 resolution (higher than native) in a 16:9 screen?

    IMO You can do Higher but preserve your ratio ;)
    I have my own settings for 16:9 (as my Monitor)
    Maby try to go that way?

    Set the same in CRU + ATI reg Tweak -> should work (also set Custom resolution in Adrenalin, it can help to determine correct values)

    16:9 already works. I can set whatever I want as long as it doesn't exceed 4K. 2688x1512 is my new resolution in old TXAA games (which is equivalent to 2xSSAA of 1080p)

    A new uptade on "21:9 on a 16:9 screen" thing.

    Today with CRU I deleted the original 1920x1080 and 1440x900 resolutions and set two custom ones with registry;
    1-) 1440x810 (16:9)
    2-) 1920x810 (21:9)

    After enabling VSR and disabling GPU scaling it gave me all the resolutions and also 3840x1620. That's 4K for 1920x810. However, no matter how much I try to set that resolution to "preserve aspect ratio" it always stretches to all panel.

    Also the games insist on not regognazing my 1920x810 resolution and stretch even though Windows desktop is just fine.
    Any suggestions welcome. I really would love to use my 49" LG LED TV as an 34.5" Ultrawide in games.

    PS: Radeon version is the latest 18.12.x something.

    I enabled,
    - 1920x810
    - 2560x1080
    - 3440x1440
    - 3840x2160

    On a 16:9 1080p TV through VSR. Should I post it here or start a new guide/topic for better searchablety?

    Unfortunately, it is not working anymore with 2019 drivers. Appereantly ultrawide is now supported in newer drivers. That is so, only if you have a true 21:9 screen. No custom ratios are allowed.

    As always AMD put their limited effort to screw their customers, instead of making something usefull.

    For those who wondered how I did it in the first place, anyway,
    VSR basically works as 2x2 SSAA to true resolutions. So, instead of trying to force -say- 2560x1080, I had created 1280x540 with CRU.

    Also, you need at least one resolution whose one side matches to the max native resolution, thus can be represented as a native resolution without upscaling. In my case, the max resolution is 1920x1080 so max non-VSR ultrawide resolution must be 1920x810 to be recognized as "native" by the driver.

    Once I set;
    1920x810 (native)
    1720x720
    1280x540 through CRU as "actual" resolutions, VSR multiplies them with 2x2 and gives me;

    2560x1080
    3440x1440
    3840x1620 downscaled to 1920x810.

    If it doesn't give, you can simply add them with NonStandardResolutions tweak at Registry, they will be shown after a driver restart.

    That was part 1. There is a caveat, though. 1920x810 is only displayed correctly @59Hz. 60 is stretched. Since VSR fixes other 21:9 resolutions to @60Hz, they are stretched, too.

    This brings me to part 2.

    In part 2 I download WinExplorer, a simple tool to remove window borders and titlebars. So I can set my desktop to 16:9 and set my game to 21:9 in windowed mode.

    For example, a 2560x1080 game, I set my desktop to 2560x1440 and simply remove the background, assign pitch black titlebars and hide the taskbar. With WinExplorer, I hide the minimize, maximize, close buttons and the title, there you go. A 21:9 game screen with black bars on top and bottom.

    That's how I enjoyed my games for the last couple days, till now. The new driver broke it. Thanks AMD.

    Create New... change resolution to desired amount, then for Timing Standard, select "CVT - Reduced Blanking"

    ProTip: This app will allow you to create a profile that is out of hardware range. It will warn you, but will let you. If you do this, expect blank screens. You will need to boot to safe mode and use CRU's reset-all.exe app to remove the custom profile, since the Radeon app will not run in safe mode. (Been there, done that)

    .
    Hello. Was wondering if it's still possible to add a custom resolution to VSR in the latest drivers. I have a 1080p monitor but would like to use 8K VSR if that's at all possible for some older games without resolution scaling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
