Hi guys, my name is Mike and i'm new to this forum. I'm hoping someone may be able to help me? I'm having a problem installing a new Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 8GB GDDR5 (UEFI) GPU on my HP Pavillion Elite?? All i get is a blank screen although led and fans are working on the GPU..no beeps and no option to go into the bios. I have also tried to switch the Bios on the dual bios GPU but still the same. I have updated to the latest bios from the HP support site which by the way seems there have been issues with the bios version with Nvidea GTX gpu's as there is no option in the bios to disable/enable legacy support and HP in their wisdom have not resolved this with any more bios updates!! Therefore as the Radeon Nitro+ RX580 has a dual switch i opted for this GPU.. With just the onboard graphics running I have uninstalled the Drivers and disabled the onboard GPU in the device manager but then when i then shut down and put in the new GPU i get nothing!! I'm using a new EVGA 500W psu so don't think this is the issue. These are my specs: Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 8GB GDDR5 (UEFI) GPU PC : HP Pavillion Elite (HPE-599UK) Motherboard: Pegatron 2AB6 Version 1.04 Bios: AMI7.15 OS: Windows 10 64bit CPU : Intel Core I7 Please Help !!! Hi there! I can't offer any solution your problem specifically but there are a couple of things that I'll suggest looking into, hopefully someone else know more about this situation in particular. First of all, it may seem obvious but like I said it's something I've been guilty of myself, have you attached the monitor cable to the correct output? Upon upgrading computers with integrated graphics I've more than once forgotten to move the monitor cable over from the motherboard connector to the discrete GPU and that obviously leaves you with no output. With that out of the way there should also be no need to disable the integrated GPU in device manager. It can still be used for some things, like Intel Quicksync, without being used as the primary monitor output and it should use a negligible amount of power with a discrete GPU installed. Other things worth trying.. Does HPs BIOS/UEFI require particular settings with a discrete GPU? Usually this should work out of the box but some system integrators that have their own BIOS/UEFI setup may require additional tweaks. Have you tried the card in another computer, just to confirm it's working?
OK i tried the Radeon RX 580 in another computer and it worked first time. I also tried a cheap graphics card in the HP Pavillion elite PCI-e slot and that worked first time so that eliminates that there is any issues with the RX580 or the PCI-e slot on the HP!!
Go back with the Integrated graphics and go to bios. Then check for this menu( if it has one): - Secure Boot - Disabled - Primary Video Adapter - PCIE OR -Initiate Graphic Adapter - PEG (instead of "IGP") -Initiate Graphic Devices - Disabled Then insert the RX 580 and check again. ----------------------------------------------------- *** At your own risk: By using AMIBCP 4.xx , you can unlock many hidden features with your BIOS file *** -----------------------------------------------------
Hmm, something has been vaguely nagging at me... I'm using a 6th gen chipset too (P67 w. i7 2600K) and IIRC I had to muck about with BIOS settings when I upgraded from a Radeon 6950 to my current RX 480, some setting with UEFI compatibility modes, to get the new card working. As a platform the whole P67/H67 etc. was just at the breaking point of UEFI and traditional BIOS setup. I don't recall offhand what I did but it's worth digging through the BIOS and see what kind of UEFI/legacy/compatibility modes there are. (Also check whether the GPU has any relevant switches, though I don't think it should. My RX 480 only has the BIOS and LED switches.)

Initiate Graphics Adapter This feature selects which graphics controller to use as a boot device. The options are IGD, PCI/IGD, PCI/PEG, PEG/IGD and PEG/PCI.Note: IGD = Integrated Graphics Device. IGD Memory This feature selects the amount of memory for the Integrated GraphicsDevice (IGD). The options are Disabled, 32M, 64M and 128M. Render Standby This feature enables or disables render standly by the Internal Graphics Device (IGD). The options are Disabled and Enabled. IGD Multi-Monitor This feature enables or disables multi-monitor support by the Internal Graphics Device (IGD). The options are Disabled and Enabled.
Hi Caesar many thanks for your reply. Do i need to download AMIBCP and if so where can i download from? Also are you saying i should change all of the listed above from Default to User? And should i change all of the above to enabled or auto instead of disabled? Before, just try this: Under BIOS: Press the "Alt" and "F1" keys to unlock the hidden settings on the AMI BIOS. If nothing happens, try pressing "Shift" and "F1" or "Ctrl" and "F1" instead.
