Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity developer Obsidian Entertainment, as well as Wasteland and The Bard’s Tale developer inXile ... Microsoft acquires Obsidian and inXile
Microsoft to rule them all... Microsoft to find them... Microsoft to bring them all... Suck out all their blood, chew on their bones and into the darkness dump them (in style of EA).
There is a difference with EA... M$ 1st decision is not to kill the studio and use their name only. For creativity it is better and also they need to get good game studio after the wrong Balmer's choise legacy result (those who were dumped and bankrupted). *edit* on everything else i agree with you
M$ just creating more games exclusively for X-box and Win10. Nothing new here. sea of thieves waves hi.
Agreed as well, as if I was given a choice between EA or MS, I would pick MS every time. Obviously, they want to make new exclusives for Xbox, but I do hope that they will also come for PC and won't be available only on MS Store. Other then that, Obsidian made some great games, I hope (with a large grain of salt) that they will keep it up.
See this thread also: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/obsidian-and-inxile-join-microsoft-studios.423868/ This. Like I posted in the other thread too:
Damn it! I've been a fan of Obsidian's games since the old days, one of the few companies left that could still do good RPGs. I bet MS will abuse them with multiplayer microtransactions in some shape or form and of course it will be an exclusive to the still very much terrible MS Store.
This forum is so anti-Microsoft and lately so pro AMD. I just don't get all the hate around all things Microsoft. They stated the game studios would remain independent, just like GitHub. What's the problem? If it means more games or content for my Xbox then it's a small win IMO.
More good games hopefully to add to the xbox/pc landscape, so this is a plus for me. Oh and would it not be great if Fallot New Vegas now got the whole XBX 4k hdr treatment like F3 did, fingers crossed.
For me it's just a case of the MS Store/UWP being annoying. Game breaks? Oh just down 100GB again. Oh there's an issue you need to troubleshoot? Ah to bad, you don't have access to the game files... oh wait you could take ownership of the folder... but wait now your game stops working... Or best one yet: Why did I suddenly lose 100GB of my SSD? Only to find out Forza updated but didn't delete the folder with the old game install (it does an upgrade thing similar to Windows where you'd retain "Windows.old"). Time to boot into recovery / linux again to delete the old version of the game because... taking ownership of the folders breaks the game!! UWP platform is horrible tbh. If they want the platform to succeed it needs ALOT more functionality tbh.
You prefer to have games that limited to Win10 and Xbox only? M$ is just promoting Win10 with games (DX12 only), to force Win7 users switch to Win10. That how low and sad it got. It's sad monopoly M$ doing here. Hate towards M$ can be justified with their product quality and poor decisions. Nothing to love about it, unless you live and breath in its small world.
Your argument is you want to stick with Windows 7? I don't see how your preference for an outdated OS justifies your hatred of a company. Nope, can't see it.
How about having a choice? How about not cutting support for DX11/Vulcan and allow PS4 owners play as well. Developers have their hands tight here. I probably won't care about games M$ releases, but it sad to see people who want to try it, have to buy xbox or install Win10 just to be able to play it. For you Win7 is outdated, to me Win10 is overbuild.
You're demanding Microsoft support your EOL OS forever? How about, NO? Why do folks act like games being compatible with every platform is a GAWD given right. Why aren't you wailing about the hundreds of console exclusives that are not on PC?
