I've expressed my doubts about the Steam Survey several times on this forum already (it's not completely wrong but I always take it with a grain of salt). The mindfactory data is consistent with data from other large retailers - Amazon.com currently shows the Ryzen 2600 and 2700X as the top two best-selling CPUs (outlier? what outlier?).

 

You do realize that Intel 9000 series just launched and is out of stock everywhere including Amazon, and also 8000 series had some stock problems recently. AMD had some good few months, how much difference will that make in the long run we'll see. 9000 series will sell like hot cakes when there is normal stock and price normalizes. There are tons of people patiently waiting for 9900K, 9700K stock.

 

That's just the thing - prices won't be normalizing anytime soon. Even before the 9000 series came out prices of Intel CPUs were skyrocketing due to the 14nm shortage. Intel is prioritizing their enterprise and high-end customers at this time and retailers are having a ball (Amazon.com is currently selling the 9900K for $999, more than twice the MSRP!). Note that the 9700K is in stock, both on Newegg and Amazon - it's just the 9900K which is out of stock and massively overpriced.

 

if anyone is about to fork 950$ ((almost double msrp)) for the 9900k i imagine their cart looks like this !
i mean he has to be prepared !
