MSI RTX 2070 cards surface, Armor and triple-fan models

The product pages with specs and more pictures have actually been up on msi.com for several hours now though.

btw. I bet the rtx 2070 will be available sooner than I'll get my 2080 Duke (non-ti). Pre-ordered on Aug 21st from an official Nvidia retail partner in Norway (Komplett). Product still not delivered and no ETA! Many other 2080s have been available in vast quantities from Sept 20th. MSI really dropped the ball on this one.

i love MSI, i'm using one of their Nvidia laptops atm (GE 62mvr 7rg) and my 1080ti (gaming x) is from them as well.
...but to me all of the 2070's are ugly, with the exception of the Armor - but typically no backplate on the Armor cards.

To be honest; no rtx card so far is really appealing except the 2080ti. Like the 2080 for example; same performance as pascal (1080ti) but with less vram and a higher price. If the 2070 follows this pattern, I can't really see these selling well over pascal.

What would be interesting is if Nvidia released a new Titan. Seeing how the 2080ti is beating the titan v in gaming. Same thing happened with the 1080ti and titan xp.

 

the RTX cards are a stopgap and the more time passes since the release the clearer that has become. it doesn't mean the cards are bad, i'm positive the 2080/ti are excellent.

but it is exactly as you've said, no reason just yet to buy any of the RTX, and then probably not the 2070. IMHO, everybody willing to spend over $599 should wait another six months for real options.

and again, Ray Tracing is not exclusively Nvidia, it's Microsoft and AMD knows just as much about Ray Tracing as Nvidia.
the native compute of AMD cards can deal with Ray Tracing (at least Vega 56/64) through drivers. and as AMD is pretty heavy into game development it may not be surprising to find AMD titles coming out with full Ray Tracing implemented at the same time or before other titles. as no title currently available has the full blown Ray Tracing coded into it, just some "shiny objects".

 

I agree with most of your comment but not this part. I didn't say there is no reason to buy any rtx. I said all except the 2080ti. I've been loving my 2080ti and it gave me a 45% improvement in vr on my vive and plays all my games at 60fps at 4k. So I would disagree about the 2080ti but do agree that the 2080 and most likely the 2070 will be pretty poor buys.

Thanks glad I can help. The new architecture is perfect for vr. Actually even the 2080 gets around a 20-25% boost in vr over the 1080ti because of that. That's the only reason I can see anyone buying it to be honest. The 2080ti gets a massive 45% boost in vr titles. I'm currently cranking up the resolution to at least 200% on everything maxed. For some reason this doesn't get covered much (probably because vr isn't as popular). I'll try to find the benchmarks I was looking at before.

It entirely depends from where you are upgrading from. If you have a 1080Ti, yeah, the RTX line sucks. But if you have an older product like a GTX 970 and looking to upgrade, a RTX 2070 could be a good replacement. Heck, even better, if you are like me and you have a GTX 680, then those cards look even better compared to what I currently own. It's all a matter of perspective (and wallet).

 

I upgraded from a 1080ti. It depends what you are doing. I'm gaming in 4k on a 60hz screen and using a vive. No reason to complain if that's what you're doing. I'd much rather have this card and gaming maxed at 4K@60fps then 45fps (1080ti) and vr titles are playing rediculously good.

 

Same for me, still waiting for my 2080ti Duke OC.

by the way, how many Tensor cores do these 2070 have? From nVidia site I learned that their FE will have more than ones they ship to AIBs
