Well no way that is intentional, that story would blow up bigger than any review. Still, that really makes the new cards look even less appealing.
on the other hand nvidia has been known to have buggy new gen drivers so its really not surprising. does not change my urge to pre-order a STRIX 2080.
The Apple comparison is a bit poor too, as Apple customers to my knowledge don't have the option of going back to old software.

Not @Hilbert Hagedoorn 's, at least not according to his review of the 2080Ti Duke for instance (see HERE): That said, I doubt the differences will be huge, might just be the margin of error or just above that (a few % of average FPS for instance).

At 100FPS, yes. 100 vs 102 could be filed under margin of error. At lower FPS it's not margin of error. For example, 2FPS vs 4FPS is a 100% difference and not margin of error. 42FPS vs 44FPS is not margin of error. It's a 5% difference. Which is interestingly the near the perf advantage of the 2080 vs 1080 Ti at the launch day reviews. The consensus was that the 2080 was a tiny bit faster than a 1080 Ti. If you strip away that 5%, it's not a tiny bit better. It's exactly the same perf.
you a you are nailing it. imho, this proves my point i've made since this release...20xx is a rush job and a stop gap. i'm saying this while owning Nvidia cards (2 atm) going back several generations. if the release was a "normal" Nvidia production (show-biz term on purpose), game developers would've had engineering samples six to eight months ahead of the (paper) release. also, and really very significantly, inventory of the previous gen would be markedly lower. and to that point, we would have seen major promotions for 10xx throughout spring and summer, typically with game bundles. and the market would be full of faqs about DLSS and Ray Tracing before the release, not after. this is not just an opinion, this is the opinion of an investor who has followed Nvidia from the inception and followed their marketing strategies. i've met with Nvidia engineers many many times as part of my job, as recently as six weeks ago. they are caught out between nodes and the availability of fabs at desired nodes. and if you think the 2080/ti is the best thing since sliced bread, wait until you see the refresh at 7nm 2nd qtr of 2020.
Prices of the 2080TI are so insane here, that retails don't even market them up, instead all you see is overpriced 1080TI and even more overpriced 2080(1080TI costs 900 to 1100USD, 2080 1200+)
To be honest I didn't check if they still charged for shipping with that purchase, it's just that 1200€ is still way beyond what I'd be willing to pay for a 2080TI, even if it's free shipping
i live six miles from Nvidia HQ and vendors are trying to sell their P.O.# (2080/ti) for additional $$...totally get fried if Nvidia catches them, but some just gotta have it at any price

At this point in time I am seriously thinking of waiting for the next generation Xbox or PlayStation. I am currently using a 980ti which is underpowered for the system it is currently in, I have supported Nvidia from there GF256 with many Nvidia Cards in-between and a voodoo banshee before that. So, I have been in the pc market a long time, with many fluctuations in pricing, but none that compares to today’s blatant rip-off by Nvidia. I place the blame on a few things, first and foremost Nvidia greed, secondly would be bit coin rush from last year and thirdly no competition. My opinion only of course.
The new features are not even available at launch, which is the biggest failure of those cards, outside of the price. nVidia should have waited for 7nm, no need to rush, why did they rushed??? maybe they know that AMD might release something competitive in 2019, using 7nm before them.
