With the release of GeForce RTX 2080 card, NVLINK was introduced. NVLINK is the replacement interconnect for SLI, and that means new NVLINK connectors you need to purchase. The 5 USD worth of compone...

Well, I guess the logic behind this pricing is, when you splurge ~2000eur or more for two cards, 80-90eur isn't really a problem...

You can have 1000pcs upon sending them construction diagrams. They do not need to know that you are asking for copy of nVidia's IP.

I did not reply to your question because it is demented. Why would someone order/make custom HB Sli bridges when you can have RGB from gigabyte for 7$ and here you can have basic one for $1.
But there is economical space to cheaper variants for something that goes around for $70+, especially since manufacturing cost is around $2.

So, sorry for avoiding situation in which I would have to point out that you clearly do not get difference between two similar products where manufacturing cost of each goes around $1~2 and one sells for $7 and other for $70.

Wow I CAN recall a time when you bought a video card and would get a sli connector a crossfire connector as well! They are kinda milking it but as stated if people are willing to pay WHY NOT?

Yeah I still have some sli and crossfire cables at home lost somewhere ... I'm still curious to see what is inside this one that makes it 80 USD....

    Same with anything else.
If you have the money to buy a 100k car, you usually don't worry about the maintenance cost.
Someone that shells out the money for to xx80 or tis (and the ecosystem I need to properly run them) , can spend another 80 for this.

"The 5 USD worth of components is turning into a profitable enterprise as NVIDIA is selling them for something like 79 bucks a pop." Thank you for this Hilbert; the pricing is definitely ridiculous!

Yep, that were good times. And while I did have to buy a special TRI bridge to use my 980s in slots 1, 4 and 7. it was still cheap. Not to mention that my 3 980ti have cost less than two 2080ti would now. I'm not in a hurry to upgrade. I hope AMD use their current good fortune in the CPU business to build up more of a competition to Nvidia in the GPU sector too. A bit less profit from the gaming GPUs would still work fine for Nvidia, their big income is elsewhere anyway.

$9,99 for the Bridge and the rest is Branding and RGB bumping it up i guess.

What's the bet that internally it's just a couple of PCIe x8 connectors and wee bit of cable to join them together because those connectors look alot like an PCIe x8 slot to me

Well, I am going to buy that already and wait until I have enough money to buy the two main graphic cards...
