    Hello

How to minimize lag with capped 30fps and 60fps ?

Like which vsync for each 30fps and 60fps and fps cap using RTSS for both ?

I have GTX 970 and Benq monitor 144hz.

    Thanks.

If you don't care about the stutter issues when capping to 30 or 60 while running 144Hz, and are using vsync OFF, then you're getting the lowest input lag possible already. There is nothing you can do to lower it even more.

I always disable vsync to increase FPS

I actually don't like to use 144hz because I feel the colors are washed out while using 144hz,
So when I play single player mode I use 60hz but when I play multiplayer I use 120hz or 144hz.

Anyway what I wanted to achieve is console smoothness or at least close while using vsync.

I just so your old post and I know now that if I want to play on 60hz I must first know the monitor real refresh rate which is 59.999 then subtract it by 0.01
so 59.989 and use this value on RTSS, second use normal vsync, third set pre-rendered frames to 1.
Now I don't have any problem when I play on 60fps and normal vsync.

For games where I play with highest setting and can't achieve 60fps so I must play on 30fps
same settings as above but this time the math will be 59.999 / 2 = 29.999 - 0.01 = 29.989 and I can use either normal vsync or 1/2 vsync from Nvidia Inspector.

So I tried 30fps using 1/2 vsync but the input lag is so high I feel like I'm dragging the game character,
then I used normal vsync for about 5min or less and now the input lag is fine and I don't feel any stutter, so I think I'll keep using normal vsync with capped 29.989.

I'll check other games which I play them on 30fps.

    Thank you a lot RealNC.

I used not liking vsync at all but now I must play with it.

Try lowering the RTSS cap a bit more. Like 0.02 below Hz.

Also, try 120Hz with 1/4 vsync. This should lower input lag even more.

If that works for you without weird frame timing, then yeah, that's perfect.

Note that you have more target frame rates if you use 120Hz or 144Hz. With 120Hz, you can target 30FPS and 40FPS. With 144Hz you can instead target 36FPS and 48FPS.

    Thanks

So it's better to use high refresh rate 120/144 to lower input lag and have more control on frame rates.

BTW should I use -0.02 all the time instead of -0.01 or only when I feel there is high input lag.

    Thank you.

0.01 is enough, but with 1/x vsync it might require slightly more. Not sure. You will get more frame skips though.
