Well, that's odd, are you by any chance trying Win 7 driver on it?

Also, have you tested your GPU on another system? If it works there then the issue is in your OS.

Other than that head to Nvidia tech support forums and make a topic there.

I wonder if the "Ab" in NvAbHub stand for Afterburner and thus be related to the power monitoring stutter fix the drivers are supposed to include.

Everyone, please take a look at solution developed by @uKER

It works like a charm and basically makes the manual method redundant. If more people can give feedback to him and test it out, I think then we can safely stop this manual driver cleaning topic.

Although that app looks great, I'd still like having the option to download a clean driver as it is slightly smaller to download :)

Release notes seem to suggest newest win10 build is necessary, but is that a suggestion or a requirement? Has anyone tried these on 1607?

    Edit: Thanks man!

That's only for Turing, if you want to use RTX.
Works perfectly fine for me on my 1607 ltsb.

I use win 7 os, so my question is why do I need the "Miracast.VirtualAudio" folder with the new driver? Is it required now for a clean install?

No, its safe to delete unless you need it, kept it for the same purpose as people who use HDAudio.

    https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3255/~/what-is-miracast?

So unless you have any of the above-mentioned use cases, delete it.

Thanks for the response, no I am using WIN10 64x and your probably right about it being the OS (ill start reviewing the registry hive and google) as when i updated to 1803 from 1607 there were several issues that took a manual file copy from my working laptop's 1803 to solve. Just strange as even after this it worked fine until 399. I will keep looking.

"If you wish to use RTX features for Turing, GeForce Experience has to be installed."

Breaking my heart here, haha. I see where we can remove the login requirement but can GFE be stripped down further or does it need to be installed whole for RTX to work? My card gets here Monday and I'm not looking forward to seeing GFE again, haven't used it in years. :(

the rtx features do not require GFE to be installed.

Oh, I see! Can you clarify that please then? Does it need any components at all or bare bones clean driver will do just fine?

    @boogarn
In accordance to @Astyanax you don't need it for RTX features to work.

I assume DLSS will still need GeForce Experience in order to work, no? As it downloads profiles from it?

the NGX binaries will handle DLSS interaction with the driver, the results of Saturns DLSS preprocessing is returned to the developer of the game for packaging into the final product.

I see some sites have said gfe is required to download the ngx core, but it is installed as part of the 411 driver, with a turing product with or without gfe - whether game developers utilise it on their own to pull the trained data is another matter.

Thank you for this information. I've updated the first post and removed the GFE requirement. I think that alone will make some people happy. ;)

Excuse my ignorance. Just came back to Nvidia after being an AMD guy for a loooong time. What is a "clean" version?
