I read that nVidia has dropped support for the older cards. Which driver still supports this card in, Windows 10 1803? This is for my wife's pc which is an i7 870, 8gb ram and 500gb HD. Thank you
Kepler (600/700 series) is still supported and you should just get the latest driver Nvidia dropped support for its Fermi (400/500 series) cards, but some low-end cards, ie GT 610, were rebranded Fermi cards and that's probably why you think yours isn't supported anymore. There's also no risk trying to install a driver that might have removed support, the installer always runs a compatibility check and will simply refuse to install the driver if it doesn't detect a compatible GPU.
WHAT?!?!?!? He has an KEPLER Card, not FERMI.. SO he can and should use teh latest driver... 411.63 or what it is.. I have an gtx670 and the new driver works very good so far.. Go here and use this Driver: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/geforce-411-63-whql-drivers-download-discussion.423061/ greetz
Read before posting! It's not fermi! Yea definitely always get the newest driver. I'd make sure to update once in a while too. To avoid any possible issues if you haven't updated in a long time or are already having problems try running Display Driver Uninstaller first to remove the driver that's on there. (It's really a good idea to do if you've never done it before or are updating from a really really old driver or switched GPUs).
