The underwater stealth grass is a weird thing, I would assume fishes don't exactly go by vision alone ha ha. Eh it's a game and yeah there's swimming but at least the under-water super-stealth sequences are rare.

Anybody else playing at 4K that can report some performance figures?

Man that sounds awful! You cannot hit 60fps @ 4K no matter what with a 1080Ti? Makes me want to skip this game until I have a 2080Ti or something. I cannot play in 30-40fps, it's just not possible. And playing on my monitor, sure...but it's 3440x1440 so not that much lower resolution than 4K.

My average with single gpu is 37 fps, so a 1080 ti will be at least 25% faster than that (assuming nothing else in the system is limiting the performance).

Dont worry :). 3440x1440 is not as demanding

67 fps average on 1080ti, and that's maxed out details.

    and here's gameplay at 3440x1440

Well I play at that res all maxed settings ultra wide 3440x1440 and with an overclock on my 1080ti I stay above 60 constantly. There was one area where it dropped to 58 but when I reloaded I was above 60 again. Not sure how much the 8700k at 5gig is helping at this res so you should be fine for 60fps on your monitor.

3440x1440 is not comparable to 3840x2160... 3440x1440 is only 5 mil pixels, where as 3840x2160 is 8 mil pixels, thus much more demanding.

67 fps it not too great either for a 95Hz monitor but since you said "maxed out" there are a few things to turn down which will hopefully get me some more FPS which will be needed to get that butter smooth picture :)

Yes, you're right of course. I'm tired today.

Thing is that I'm fine with 60fps on my TV but on my monitor I'd prefer at least 80 or better to have this smooth picture.

In 4K 1080ti is memory bandwidth limited in that game so you will not see much performance differene between maxed out details and lower details, but in lower resolutions there is big performance difference and game looks still very similar at high settings. I think 1080ti at high settings with additional 15-20fps should get 80fps+

The more I read about this game the more it sounds like it's the most demanding game to date. And as it's a "launch title" for the 2080/2080Ti it's maybe obvious that it would take a flagship card to run the game at 4K/60fps.

Thanks for your input. I was ready to give up on the game and buy it next year but I hope you're right about 3440x1440.

I sure hope this trend isn't going to continue, otherwise the 1080Ti won't be a card for 4K gaming anymore (I know that it truly never was but with some minor adjustments I have almost always been able to play controller tailored games at 4K/60fps).

With RTX effects you can bet it will be the most demanding game out there :p. But right now there are many equally as demanding games, for exmaple no man's sky, monster huner world, Jurassic World, final fantasy XV, mass effect andromeda, Assassins Creed Origins, mafia 3, the evil within 2, GR Wildlands, hunt showdown, new deus ex, watch dogs 2, and games like kingdom come deliverance, ARK or Quantum Brake are even twice as demanding.

But if you are planing to buy RTX cards maybe it will be a good idea to wait before buying that game, performance will be better because game will be patched and Nv will improve their drivers, and with DLSS you will get huge performance boost on top of that.

It isn't anymore demanding than rise of the tomb raider released in 2015 - actually rise of the tomb raider is slightly more demanding :)

At 1440p, you should have absolutely no issues maintaining a constant 60+ fps, and most likely quite a bit more ;)

Well, you can always get two and SLI, cheaper than an RTX if you have one already :)

FWIW this is 3440x1440 @ 'Highest' profile (to keep it simple for comparison -- you can still set Shadows, LOD and Contact Shadows to 'Ultra' from there) with SMAAT2X, the 2nd highest option. 16x Ansio is forced in NV control panel, as always. This is a 6-core/12 thread HT 3970X @ 4.6 with 1080Ti SLI.
One interesting thing to note here -- GPU bound is 1%. You really want 99% so you know you're not CPU limited and the GPU(s) are working their ass off, so this implies my 3970X isn't enough to drive both 1080Tis, and so a faster CPU will likely score even higher.

I'm really curious about this so plan to do a range of tests DX11 v DX12 and with/without HT when I get a chance, as well as compare AA modes.

EDIT: Ok quick test with the above configuration, AA modes. Right when you climb out of that hole at the start and look at the first wall to scale.

    SMAA - 144
    TAA - 134
    SMAAT2X - 130
    SMAA4X - 91

Soon after in the night time city scene:

    TAA - 90-110
    SMAAT2X - 85-95
    SMAA4X - 70-80

That's not bad for 3440x1440 highest setting :)

EDIT2: And for those wanting to compare 4K -- 3440x1440@100hz (my monitor) is an almost identical performance load to 3840x2160@60hz. The difference is 0.0046% between the two. So you can see above one 1080Ti isn't going to be enough on Highest with AA, certainly as you get further in the game if it gets more demanding.

What if you try to use dsr to run 4k ? You should almost get the same fps as you do at 1440p, as you'd only increase gpu load :)

Can't :) DSR works off multiple, so there's no '4k' 3840x2160 when using 21:9. I am now tempted however to run 6880x2880 and see if my rig cries... then again, I should hit 'GPU bound' in the benchmark then!

It's not so CPU bound in Dx12, well that's if it's anything like ROTR..

Gta5 would run better too if at dx12 by those dense areas with lots of foliage.., it looks like engine is pushing api draw calls to its limits. Probably the same now if at dx11 by SOTR.

When do the cut scenes end,I started the game and did nothing maybe moved up out of a hole, even then I did not have full control climbing out of hole.Excited game and checked steam time,33 minutes played . J/K I love the Tomb Raider games but the cut scenes and mash e button get to me at times and I like the graphics running Maxed out with SMAAx4 .

Run in borderless mode will make any vsync triple buffered.
