Good, glad you managed to work around it. But please send the log when you can so I can check if something was wrong with DDU or not.
    Thanks.

For those interested, it seem windows update was conflicting with the driver installation (trying to install the driver 2x time)

Do you mean a specific Windows patch, or the Windows Update service itself?
    What version of Windows?
If it's a patch, which one?

We just know that for his particular problem, when he was disconnecting the internet he does not have problem installing the driver. So the hypothesis is that his windows update was at cause.

There is a possibility that his antivirus was checking the driver files with the cloud, keeping them locked for long enough to make the installation fail.

Something I have always wondered and never got around to asking. Why does DDU delete the monitor profile from the system so it goes back to Generic PNP Monitor every time I use DDU? I have to reinstall the monitor driver/profile every time I use DDU before I install my GPU drivers which is really annoying as this file never changes and really doesn't need to be removed. So, why does it happen?

It was asked to clean the monitor driver by others. (A lot of monitor were being stacked as disconnected in device manager)
But you have the option to disable that in the option menu.
Tell me if it work ok for you.

Oh, sweet. I didn't know there was an option to do that. I will try it out next time and see if it does what I want.

    Thanks for the reply!

Just a heads up that in 18.0.0.1 using Win 10 1809 the option to not have windows update install drivers does not work so when I first used it I booted into windows with 388.14 or something like that so I had to physically disconnect my ethernet cable, run DDU again, restart, install the new drivers, then put my ethernet cable back in. I guess there will have to be some amendments to the code in order to keep windows from installing a super old version of the drivers when you restart with internet on to install the new drivers.

Also, turning off cleaning the monitor driver worked great. I still have the driver installed and no stacking ones present. Thanks for the tip!

    "-Additional NVIDIA cleanup"
Which are? Like why even bother with change logs if you don't say anything worth while.

It's enough for the common user, for advance users, check the code source changes.

But for you this time :

    -Removal of C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\umdlog
    - Removal of nvabhub

Thanks, I too noticed that new folder ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\umdlogs getting recreated on startup/opening control panel with 416 drivers.

Anyway sorry for coming off as an ass, but a lot of people who use this tool are advance users and knowing the files/folders/reg keys are helpful to a lot of people.

Edit: Also good tip about the source.

It's ok. I should at least be more precise on the source code changes as I only listed "Additional NVIDIA cleanup" there too.
