    Hey, well this is good news - much needed for 8 cores! In my own experience (& others) delidding with liquid metal reduces temperatures by about 15 degC - the solder on these 8 core CPUs would have the same effect, so it's possible these 8 core CPUs will run cooler than the toothpaste 6 core / 12 thread CPUs, my prediction anyway!

    Can 8700K users can test power usage on 4.7GHZ all cores? so we can assume the 9900K power usage?
    Edit: tomshardware 8700K review:
    So with 2 more cores with 4.7Ghz Over clock vs 8700K- We can seee why Intel was forced to solder the 9900K, same tactic as their 5Ghz 28 Core "new CPU"!.
    no real new products are ready so Intel just overclocking their existing CPU's and releasing then under new SKU's -LOL.

    P.S- how many corrent Z370 boards can handle those ~200W OC'ed 9900K?

    Even 9700k seems to be soldered. I'm in. That will be an absolute gaming cpu. 8/8 nothing more needed before next Gen consoles. ;)

    If this ends up being true, then I'll most likely build a system around an i9-9900k. My 4770k can't go past 4.4GHz and my trusty old Z97 and DDR3 2400CL10 are just itching to be replaced ;) Seeing as DDR5 is a ways out, I'm thinking 9900k on a Z390 with 16GB of DDR4 3600MHz and the new 1180. Playing emulators dependent on single core frequency is something I do often, so Intel has my money (if they solder for the retail chips) until 7nm Zen 2 arrives and can compete with a ~5.2GHz 9900k under an NH-D15S.

    Three cheers for AMD bringing an end to the toothpaste era!

    Yes!, this is why you got from " Best Gaming 4C CPU 7700K" last year to 8C 4.7Ghz 9900K this year!
    Look how huge Impact Competition has! so keep spreading the word out that your friends/family can consider AMD CPU's too relative to their needs, big example would be 2200G/2400G vs cheap i3 Intel PC's that common customers don't know that 200G/2400G APU is better alternative to Intel's i3 with iGPU.

    They probably had too many fires with the dried jizz they were using as thermal compound during earlier development.

    Amazing how not being 100% pieces of crap is now something that's seen as a positive rather than expected. Good job Intel, there can now be theoretically greater scum than you.

    How can people who had Intel system over the years in the past and cheering as well as thanking AMD to bringing out the competition also upping the game in core count as well as the thermal solution when they don't intend to switch to AMD at all in future?!

    I do not understand mentality of customers, on one side people thank AMD to bringing out competition & then they buy Intel. how the hell AMD would come back when you do not buy their products at all or not intend to buy the products from them in future at all?

    Irrelevant to the thread but it's all about customer's psychology. Even if America/Japan are making great sports-cars people with money will always prefer Italian/German overpriced ones. So even if AMD offers best for your money and is considered smart buy, it cannot persuade the majority.

    It's called hypocrisy. And it is consequence of instant gratification culture.
    People would not support AMD to keep competition if it delivered just 5% lower value per money spent even if they know that it would allow them to get much better CPU/GPU in 4 years.

    They'll rather have now 5% higher performance. And then get new CPU in 4 years where they would get 30% lower performance per same money (If AMD was gone). 2nd option where they would have 5% lower performance per money now, and 30% higher for same money in 4 years... No! They need instant gratification.

    And they are kind of ungrateful too.

    but the DerBauer test showed that the liquid metal is better than the solder by 4 degrees! When DerBauer opened the 2600X riser and replaced the solder with a liquid metal
    I'm sure 95% of the solder will not be returned and will be left just in case for an AMD response and just as sure that for the sake of 9900k the lines will not be rebuilt
    There is no sense at all considering the speedy release of 7nm from the amd and the hole of vulnerability in place! I would wait 10nm
    and considering that if you play in 2k or 4k, then the overpayment for Intel is simply not goal-oriented, because everything will rest against the possibility of a graphics processor
