So how fares the update? Have they released hotfixes or anything? I'm still on "paused updates".

 

Works fine here. Though many people seem to have issues with home networks but if you don't use one no problems.

Plus I think a solution was found, you had to enable some service that wasn't necessary before?

 

Yeah i needed to enable via powershell command SMB1 File Sharing Protocol, otherwise i would not see media player connected to my TV.

 

It's mostly fine as a clean install although I'm still having issues with sound output over HDMI - it keeps resetting itself to stereo for some reason - but this might be an NV driver bug.

The upgrade I made on one of machines as a test fares a lot worse though, I'm getting missing UWP apps icons in Start and the annoying blank lock screen bug from 1709 stayed there.

 

@dr_rus. FYI, on my laptop with GTX 1060, RS4 and Nvidia 397.xx drivers, I have no issue with HDMI sound to my Samsung TV.

 

This seem to be strictly MPC-HC related somehow.

 

I thought that had been discontinued or are you using the community edition?

 

Latest version from CLSID. It's not as much "discontinued" as there's just one developer left working on it.

I did an upgrade too (actually first version upgrade without clean install) and all is good.

 

Found that if your using an older nvidia gpu thats on the 309.08 legacy driver, you will get bluescreens whenever you exit a 3d application, kinda annoying.

works pretty ok on a 2006 laptop all things considered ,apart from that.

 

Thanks So did I, the first update (17xx) went well and installed really fast but the second one (18xx) took some time to install. Then I also got a hotfix on top of that but my computer seemed to have survived this. I'd still like to do a clean install down the road cause it's been a year or something now since the last one.

 

Yep clean install is always recommended. Just couldn't be bothered this time around.

I'll do it once (if) any quirks start showing up.

 

Decided to give this update a clean install, works great so far!

 

17134.81 via KB4100403 seems to be out on the release preview ring now.

dont have access to my pc again, and 2 pc's i do or have had access to are on 1709 still with no notifactions other wise

mine is still 1703
