Is there anyway to get Intel's K Lake i7 CPU to accept Window7 64bit Premium? I hate Windows 10, but I want to upgrade to the above CPU with a nice MSI MOBO and new DDR4 RAM, but wish to keep Windows 7 64bit.
Hi, you need to slipstream USB3 drivers with Windows 7 x63 on to a USB memory stick to install Windows 7 as HP computers for example have no USB2 or PS/2 ports. HP provide a utility to do this but you'll need an ISO of Windows 7 x64 SP1. Then you'll need to download an unofficial Intel HD Graphics driver if you intend on using the on-board graphics, otherwise the best solution is simply a AMD/NVidia GPU. Finally you'll need to trick Windows 7 into receiving Windows Updates as per the post above,
Is it possible to do this with Windows 8.1. Im on a z370 (Strix-E) now and Windows 10 is driving me nuts.
Shouldn't need to do anything. 8.1 supports USB3 out of the box; but yes it's possible to slipstream drivers in any version of windows.
Look into Windows 10 LTSB. Has been a bliss since I switched out to it when Windows 10 Creator's Update first got released.
Why is Winblows 10 driving you nuts ? Do you have the latest April major update. Every 6 months they release a new huge update. The Fall Creators Update made the OS solid, Then 6 months later the recent April update. The OS is flawless... Yes when it first came out it was no good but they fixed everything and added things and enhanced stuff. Its the perfect OS. I don't know why it's driving you nuts my friend. sighs
