This move was hypocritical at best. But in reality it was economical move against China, nothing more.

They don't need to. There's stiff competition out there. It wouldn't take a lot for Apple's business in China to be in serious trouble as their home-grown brands can iterate faster and cheaper, while maintaining very good quality compared to Apple products. Everyone is using the same core-component suppliers.

Ironically they probably would have tons of legit reasons to do so.

Yep. If China banned Apple, they would put lots of Chinese workers out of jobs.

Most of stuff is made in China or Taiwan what you have in yours PC

Not everything made in China is junk, have look on Barrow or Bykski and many other companies which are now in same league as Bitspower or EK in therm of quality and features

Made in China few years back has been synonym for junk or rip off but now they in many cases same as made in US, UK etc

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

Have you seen some of the high end devices from ZTE? Or Xiaomi or Huawei?! They are making progress in the mobile technology world like no other, and then you have western based companies like Blackberry that don't even make their own devices anymore. The high end devices are legitimate high end devices usually at lower costs that can go head to head with big names like Apple and Samsung, we have no real competition in that front. Look at the difference from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 8, or the Galaxy S8 to the S9, I mean LG is freaking releasing phones with a notch now and saying it's not because of Apple(We all know it is). We need choices, otherwise we will keep getting flagship devices every year with almost no real difference from the prior year, or features blended from another device to gain attraction.

why would they ban it? they have already stolen all the technology and have fake apple stores in china selling counterfeit merchandise. China steals everything from everyone all the time. It's a good move to keep the Chinese military's economic arm from gaining a foothold in the States. There are direct links between most major technology companies and the military, it's not about sanctions or anything like that, it's a simple national security issue.

Well, if you think that Chinese companies are threat to US as you think that they are extension of Chinese military complex...
You should be more afraid of that debt US has in China. Because that's one really good weapon ready to blow big hole.
Then there are other Asian countries...

All technology (etc) businesses that want to do business in China have to hand in their "design"/"technology" to their government to be authorized. These companies don't have to hand anything in, but, they do because they want to make money in China. That's the way it is. It's not technically stealing because it was part of the terms to sell their products in China and they knew it from the start.

Debt is only an issue if you plan to pay it back. Who really has the stronger position in a debt relationship?

Debt is an issue if you dont want your bonds and currency to collapse and be seen as worthless. Your debt promises everywhere would be suspect and debtors would pull out all their money from the U.S. This would be an economic catastrophe not only for the U.S., but to the world economy.

Fox thinks the US debt to China was a weapon in China's arsenal. That is not quite true unless the goal is to burn it all down, their own economy as well.
