Wait, is this actually rtm? Is this any different from the 17133.1 that we just had?

 

This is the same exact OS as the one that we downloaded before. I'm so glad that 17133.1 is the RTM, installed it yesterday on both the laptop and the main rig.

 

It will be a pleasure to be among the first to upgrade to RS4 and get another reason to scream and cry.

Okay, sorry but just to be clear, we are 100% certain about this now? Wasn't there supposed to be a cumulative update that brings this up to rtm?

 

Not sure but either way you should install it since it will be just an update to 17133.1.

I hope there is a lot in this update because I am seeing a whole lot of bugs here. I don't get why Microsoft keeps trying to push us onto their new os if they can't even be bothered to test it for stability. Some of the bugs I found on here wouldn't effect most of the users here on guru because it seems most of you guys are in western countries. Here's what I've found so far:
1)unstable network connection. I'm noticing odd download speeds in comparison to 1607.
2)Unable to type in Japanese. When switching to Japanese, I get a notification saying the dictionary is downloading and to please wait. Several hours later it is still not working and no indication of any download being done.
3)Also Japanese input related. I huge letter 'A' displays on the center of the screen whenever opening any program. This is super annoying and even after checking the box to disable it on the Japanese IME, it still shows. I've even tried removing the default IME and replacing it with Google Japanese input but no dice.
4)Windows defender is super stubborn. Since I am testing this on a separate partition on my ssd, I don't have much space but enough anyways for windows. It constantly bothers me to free up space despite already clicking ignore.
All these bugs were faced with nothing installed except the os and drivers so I don't think it has to do with any conflicting software. I can't really see myself personally using this although game performance seems very normal and the os is very snappy, it's full of other bugs. I just don't understand why Microsoft feels the need to constantly bother me to upgrade my 1607 install when they have so many bugs to work out.

Edit:Okay so I've fixed the first two sort of. Using google ime and removing the default ime along with setting all accounts to use this setup in language options fixes the annoying A being displayed and gives me a way to type in Japanese. Not ideal as it's a 3rd party solution but not the end of the world either. Now the only issues remaining so far for me is defender and the network.

 

Anyone kind enough to explain how to do this? Would this give us a multilingual copy or just English?

Download uup.downloader.cmd and run it. I used it during RS3's insider days and it is a menu in a DOS style prompt. Just answer the questions like language and edition and it will download the correct UUP files from microsoft's servers. After that you would use the decrypter to generate an iso out of those files. Full instructions are in the read_me.nfo.

 

Yeah comments like these confuse me. Is this RTM or not? If it's not, then the OP should change the thread topic because it's misleading. I see a lot of people saying this is RTM then every once in a while get a comment like this that says to wait or it's not. I'm guessing we actually don't know yet right?

No blockers either. It's an educated guess but you're likely to see this deployed on WU soon enough. If you want to move on from 1607, you can safely do it now. You just have to make your own iso if you want to do a fresh install.

 

Thanks I just figured out how to get it to work and downloading now. I had a English only ISO before and maybe that caused a lot of the bugs I was seeing on Asian inputs. Gonna give this a try and install it to a separate partition. If all goes well, I'll switch over to this after the official announcement is made. Hopefully that won't even require another install if it really turns out to be the same build.

Oh I get it. Nonetheless I ended up switching to this and so far everything is great. I had a few minor bugs but nothing I couldn't fix. This is definitely the most stable version of windows since 1607. I'm also loving how much faster it feels overall.

 

Apparently VT-d doesn’t work in this build of Windows so you have to disable it in the BIOS/UEFI otherwise the PC won’t boot.
