You know how everyone started complaining about Windows 10 FCU? It goes deeper than I ever expected. MCRSFT ****** up soo badly with 1709 I reverted to 1607 and don't have problems anymore. All this crap started with the new windows builds and new nvidia branches adapting to wddm 2.2-2.3. This driver is actually good. If you're on 1709 odds are you have this issue https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/..._issue_causing_stutters_on_creators/?sort=new . If your OS is on SSD the clearstandby exe might solve all your problems, not so much for mech HDD because everytime it clears the OS uses superfetch to re-cache the OS with about 1.3-1.4gb of ram. Total joke right?

Guessing your tests/usual candidates are 3dmark API Overhead Test with comparisons to previous driver performance?
If so, would it be possible for you to share the results? Just asking, since you did so in a previous driver thread, and I should probably have voiced my appreciation at the time (more so than the "like" I gave..).

I'm still using the 390.77 driver, and I'm a bit curious if the DirectX 11 Multi-threaded draw calls per frame/per second are equal or greater with this .35 driver release. :)

BTW, do you offload PhysX to your GPU or CPU? Or just the Auto-select setting.

This is how it looks like, will re-run one more time just in case if it was a fluke, well so far its the same except by dx11 single threaded its the lowest, think 391.05 had it too

    391.35 - 391.24 - 391.01 - 390.77 - 388.84
    https://www.3dmark.com/compare/aot/252868/aot/252100/aot/251568/aot/251398/aot/251229#

390.77 had 128k one two times, but last time I installed them again it was back to usual 122K, 388.84 on the other hand always had 95K, even after 391.xx back to 388.84.

    About those games, I tested
    Rise of tombraider dx12 (guru3d settings v.h)
    Hitman Absolution
    Resident Evil6
FFXV (for me 390.77 was the fastest 7070, others 7010-6990points)

    Batman Arkham Origins
    Batman Arkham Knight
by both max physx, I use auto for it.. I think only one older game had to have forced to gpu so it worked, I think Cryostasis, not sure anymore.

    And 3dmark firestrike

    391.35 - 391.01 - 388.71 - 388.59
    https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/15210767/fs/15192013/fs/14730907/fs/14368148
you see that gpu score 200points difference by 388.71 this drop come and goes,

quite a few newer had it

EDIT: I've re-ran 3dmark api, and now DX11 ST is back to normal 92K, but DX11 MT is now the highest so far 129K,

Couldn't agree with you any more. I've been on 1607 enterprise up until now. Only problem is you may have noticed that they are planning to cut support for 1607 on the 10th of next month. Let's hope they either extend it or rs4 fixes the stuttering issues.

So only a few frames per second in Far Cry 5 compared to the previous driver? Anyone having issues with this new driver?

I am wondering are those API tests video-card specific. Would Geforce 10(Pascal) or newer report similar drops/gains?

    just a little heads up..
The NVIDIA tray icon allways comes back after an reboot, even if you set it to disabled in the NV Control Panel.

When you deselect "Show Tray Icon" app sets REG "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\NvTray\StartOnLogin" to DWORD 0 ... but this doesn't work because there is no coresponding value under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". So to fix this you have to add REG:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\NvTray]
    "StartOnLogin"=DWORD:00000000
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\NvTray]
    "StartOnLogin"=DWORD:00000000

After this it works like a charm, the tray icon is gone and everything still works as intended..I guess NVidia forgot to set the reg for Local_Machine..

This is not my finding, i did found this over @ TechPowerUp Forum from 2011 :)

i thought ill let you guys know that this is still the case and the workaround works..

    Greetz :)

Back to 389.10 here and Fallout 4 is as smooth as butter again.
It was a jerky mess at times and had obv latency issues.

MPC-HC and SVP (with MadVR etc), was also crashing occasionally.

Running on Win 10 Ent 1709, with the Emptystandbylist memory fix :D
and I even tried disabling power polling in Afterburner.

FC5 still doesn't play very smooth even though I used DDU. Not sure if I should keep this driver or not, it doesn't really improve on FPS anyway.

one thing that is irritating me, is that all drivers after 388.71 disabling hdmi audio in Control Panel ,
keeps reverting to on after every reboot.
as a workaround i have disabled in device manager the hd audio device.
I am on latest Win 10 and the open issues don't mention this bug, is it so hard to release at least a hotfix driver.

Thanks ! Really appreciate it and hope it isn't too much of a bother. Guess I'll finally move from 390.77 to something new.

Edit: Not entirely sure if this will properly contribute to the discussion as I don't have proper benchmark software, and that which I do have. Are from a few games with it embedded, and I only have the 390.77 driver as comparison, but might as well share the results.

Anti-Aliasing & Shadows are the two options that aren't maxed out

But the driver performs quite well in the games I've tested so far, still in the process of re-downloading Witcher 3, curious about the frame pacing using this driver.

Not sure about magic in 391.35 in BF1 as many writes here, but I reverted back to 391.24. Currently it's the most stable and stutter free for BF1
