Hello. I'll buy new HDD 2TB or 3TB external with power button/switcher...- which's this best brand? Because my current HDD 2TB Toshiba USB 3.0 external hasn't power button/switcher as BAD for be in risk of damage (maybe I/O errors for the cable USB fault?) after several auto-power on/off.
Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a surge suppressor type with an on/off switch and preferably a circuit breaker.
Here you go... https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Under-Monitor-Protection-TMC-6/dp/B0000AKA90 or https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Under-Monitor-Protection-MT-6PLUS/dp/B0000512E1
$33 is minimum as expensive!?? I don't care print, monitor... But I need AC cable with or without USB cable of HDD external only for power strip.
Yes but only 110V electrical outlets. After PC shutdown OR HDD external removed (remove hardware safely icon - Windows), does HDD external (AC cable connected to the power strip) auto-power off?
I can't understand, sorry. But if HDD external still auto-off = BAD after few minutes of inactivity, I'll buy new HDD internal SATA3. I remember my old Toshiba HDD WD 320GB external USB2.0 with power button hadn't auto-power and this had without any problems 8 years old - I like it.
You don't need Power Button(*) for your external HD to be considered safe in regards to power outage. You might want external power supply. Then you can safely Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flashing on the device: (example of my Seagate Backup Plus HUB, 4TB, External Desktop Hard Drive with Built-in USB HUB, (STEL4000200)) (also gets you 2x USB 3.0 HUB) But 3.5'' external drives usually require external power supply by itself. So if you want external power supply, just choose external 3.5'' (like the one above) 2.5'' usually don't come with external power. And power outage is always tricky and no guarantees can be made for data safety in this regard. At least not in consumer grade gear. But it's not something to be overly concerned unless you're experiencing frequent power losses. Or you can disable write-caching all together, and then you should be even better when it comes to sudden power failure.
I've "TOSHIBA External USB 3.0 USB Device" (HDD 3.5") device vendor: Code: \Disk&Ven_TOSHIBA&Prod_External_USB_3.0&Rev_0\201403160153E6&0 --> UPS - power supply Toshiba adapter - HDD external - USB cable - PC tower (without power strip or USB Hub) I tried to check "Turn off Windows write-cache..." with reboot PC but still auto power off after minutes inactivity.
"auto power off" ... ?? I don't quite understand what you mean by "auto power off". Do you mean that there is a power saving feature which turns off (puts to sleep) your HD? If yes, this is normal and shouldn't cause any data corruption. But if you want to prevent your disk from entering power saving mode, spinning-down etc, there are other ways. You can even do it from within Control Panel -> Power Options ... "Turn off hard disk after..minutes"
