I may be wrong but I think the lack of OLED this year is going to hurt samsung badly. The prices for OLED have come down drastically over the last couple years and it's obviously superior to LED even to those whose only exposure is walking past TV's in the store.
Yes, I think the microled is the only thing that really can give them something to compete with OLED. Unfortently I think the microled that is suppoed to be released q3-q4 this year will be crazy expensive. Maybe next year the prices will come down a little and HDMI 2.1 will be on board as well. I'm really exited about microled TV's! not their "QLED". I'm enjoying my OLED in the meanwhile
OLED still got burn in problems, QLED anytime anyday for me. Also IQ is better with QLED. Like white is real white and not yellow-ish. Also black is unreal with OLED making some scenes in the dark looking bizar fake even with lights in it. I am no fan of OLED and i never be one, its a gimmick with marketing bs. Also LG quality control is a mess.
IQ is way better on OLED but yes, QLED has more colors. White is not yellow on a calibrated OLED btw.
