Currently started playing Dark Souls 1, with lots of fixes (hell, to make it work properly on 21:9 was PAIN) and 98fps cap + graphical improvements. Nice grim game, a bit cheesy Asian style, but nice.

    Nice!

Are you having any physics / collision detection issues with that high FPS cap?

If not, I'll try playing @ 75 fps

Only issue related to FPS is ladders, if you slide down a ladder using "space" you may fall through the floor. Workaround is to move slowly. That's about it, works great.

Ah DS1, I still remember when I switched it on the first time and thought "WTF is this native 720p resolution, 30fps and what's up with the controlls". That feeling was even amplified when some dude came home and fixed that in half an hour. After that I don't think I'll ever give them my money, or most of the straight console ports from Japan. They've just terrible quality. I remember reading that even the latest DS3 had performance issues.

What do you expect, their main target audience is Asia which is Dominated by Nintendo / Sony. Say thank's that they put effort to at least do something, instead of leaving it Play Station only.

By now DS1 / 2 / 3 is fully playable with dev / community fixes.
I rather have a shitty port, then a console exclusive.

Thanks! Yeh ladders and drop down attacks may make you fall through the world, but had 0 issues with 60 fps. Gonna play @ 75 fps from here on then :)

Quite ironic actually, DS 1 with DSFix is the only Dark Souls game / version with unlockable frame rate.

Afaik rest have 60 fps cap, which is doable for me. However 30 - Hell No.

Yep, own all three. DS 2 and 3 are capped at 60 fps.

Hopefully those won't be hard limits. Forced rendering at 4K and a 60fps cap would be daft.

Agreed. There's no excuse for bad KB/mouse controls in a PC game.

I get that games tend to tie physics or animations to the FPS, but can this just stop already? 60fps is so... yesterday. I have a 144hz monitor and I don't want to be capped to 60fps. Why exactly is DS capped anyways? Has anyone been able to remove the cap without issues?

Were the mouse/kb controls bad in DS1 or is it just because the game was designed around using a controller?

Resolution isn't forced I'm sure, but fps will likely be capped to 60.

If you mean original Dark Souls then DSFix allows unlocking (or capping to higher) framerate.

There's risk of collision detection issues with the engine but I haven't had a single issue playing at 60 fps.
Physics engine is tied to, and designed for, 30 fps in DS.

30 fps because console-only originally. Why From didn't remove 60 fps cap from DS 3 I don't know.
Likely new engine is just a new version of old and physics still tied to framerate.

If I remember right you couldn't change the mappings and mouse look was very sloppy.

Pretty much this. I recall having to use some kind of outside program just to map and use my buttons. I think there was some bad input lag and delay as well.

Update: Bandai Namco confirmed that there will be no discount on PC similar to the Scholar of the First Sin rollout. The price is $40 everywhere.
