Using 2600k at 4,2GHz and it´s all good, cpu benches and gaming wise, atleast for me.

Edit: Using W10, and all i did, was a fast testing pre fix, and few test after fix.
Used Cinebench, Corona, Time Spy and TR for after fix.

I really was fearing for the worst, but hopefully it´s more or less all good for basic/generic users.

How does it really affect on servers and VM, well i really do hope it´s not that bad either... For the sake of all.
And no, i´m no expert on servers and stuff...

Any gaming benchmarks out there with disk and network activity? It's probably very hard to do, but would be where performance hits would most likely show up. Maybe a browser test might show something, with disk and network I/O.

EDIT: Ran a quick FFXIV benchmark test (since I had it installed and it measures load times). I configured it for low settings (in attempt to make it CPU bottlenecked), rebooted, ran the test, installed the update, rebooted twice and ran the test again.

Not much of a difference with the update, using Windows 10 and running everything off a several year old SSD.

well it states its a kernel patch which seems to indicate so, yeah. a LOT smaller than the win10 patch. is this being pushed out automatically?

Actually it was first Phenom processors with out II ,Phenom II's were refresh fixed processors that used socket AM3, originally Phenom's used socket AM2,AM2+: if it rings a bell you are thinking about Phenom X4 9500.9600 ... mostly people forgot about them

Chispy did this change? You mentioned you're going to benchmark and "don't like it"? :)

Edit: ah those are Linux patches right?

Let us know what you find, I'll report back too with Ryzen 1600 / W 10 system if I find any degradation (at Ryzen thread).

It does, should hit on patch Tuesday next week for other OS's but for Windows 10 it seems it'll go live later today or it can be downloaded manually via Catalog already.
Installed it earlier today, no issues so far but I haven't really done anything testing the CPU though it seems gaming isn't going to be affected too much although other software tasks might see a performance decrease.

It would be nice if guru3d could do benchmarks before and after the update on different cpus.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4056892/windows-10-update-kb4056892

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:
    • Addresses issue where event logs stop receiving events when a maximum file size policy is applied to the channel.
    • Addresses issue where printing an Office Online document in Microsoft Edge fails.
    • Addresses issue where the touch keyboard doesn’t support the standard layout for 109 keyboards.
    • Addresses video playback issues in applications such as Microsoft Edge that affect some devices when playing back video on a monitor and a secondary, duplicated display.
    • Addresses issue where Microsoft Edge stops responding for up to 3 seconds while displaying content from a software rendering path.
    • Addresses issue where only 4 TB of memory is shown as available in Task Manager in Windows Server version 1709 when more memory is actually installed, configured, and available.
    • Security updates to Windows SMB Server, the Windows Subsystem for Linux, Windows Kernel, Windows Datacenter Networking, Windows Graphics, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, and the Microsoft Scripting Engine.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Could be "hidden" in this update.

I assume they won't go into too much detail what has been fixed even now.

I dont like this cumulative update thing.

there has been some stuff from updates, I want but then other I dont want. but we are not giving a choice anymore... :(
so then end up not installing any updates.
