So I bought 1060GTX SSC 2 months ago, I have the option of set- up to 1070ti black while the 1060gtx is nice set up from the 660gtx just running Witcher 2 with everything max and supersampling pretty much pegs the card at around 99% and i know newer game will do the same too. for 180$ more I cant set-up to the 1070ti black, which would about double the tflop performance and give game more leeway and before games start maxing the card. Question is do would you think it worth it?? only reason i even think this is cause I recent got ps4 pro and i would like to keep my pc gpu performance higher
For $180 with the trade in, its worth it. Id do it. The 1070ti with 8GB Vram will last quite a while IMHO. Easily a few years out of that card. 4GB Vram is the biggest issue with my Fury, not its performance. Its does extremely well considering. My cpu is nearly a bottleneck for BF1. Wish I could do a step up with my Fury Nitro to a Vega 56 Nitro.
that is my thought too, i just worred about heat cause the 1060gtx runs 72~75c full load under if 1070ti is same temps i would not mind but if get hotter, and i need to actual using 40% or more fan speed to just keep it cool i my pc will become louder then i want. but this the card would be almost as good as 1080gtx kind torn i still only play 1080p, i wont get new monitor to current 1 dies and i wont get 4k TV till eARC is standard on new tvs
Honestly, just cap the frame rate and use adative vsync if you dont like using vysnc. It will definately keep temps down. Only 2 games I dont cap my frames in are BF1 and BF4. Thats it. Everything else I dont let it go above 80.
My Evga 1070 FTW has the ACX 3.0 cooling(like the Ti) and keeps my card well below 60c and the ti shouldnt have the same vrm cooling issue that the 1070 had, that said i... I have to admit im a bit of an Evga fan having had Evga 680`s in sli, then 980ti`s in sli until i sold one but one on its own was enough for what i needed and now a single 1070 FTW which i may keep for another year unless an Evga 1080 crops up on ebay cheap enough but it`ll have to be a FTW edition
I have to say, EVGA is my favorite Nvidia brand. I used their custom reference white and black with backplate GTX 670 4GB SC in sli, and they were fantastic. Even @1150 they stayed around 73c for a blower type card in sli.
everything is capped one way or another at 60fps, either from vsync or limiter in case of windowed games. They question is if payed 299 (1060) is 170 extra for the upgrade a good deal? i not beyond paying lill extra for better card but only if it good deal
EVGA is my only choice when it comes to video cards. Great warranty, customer support, and overall quality manufacturing. I'm running this at 2150mhz core clock with no problems at all. I got this when it was only $289, but now it's skyrocketed! https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487280
Do it 1060 to 1070 is a nice jump the ti is even better. For $180 it’s a great idea. My 1070 I had ran pretty cool. I think the cooler for the 1070+ cards is a little better.
I'm gona do it, there basic shipping got went up 2 $ from some reason, buy direct or or have anything shiped from evga has always been rather expensive. Anyway I sent my request in seeing i had 12 days left and i doubt they will release anything new in that time. long as temps stay about the same it shouldnt trigger my OCD much. it is the same exact cooling system as the 1060gtx SSC with maybe a lil tweaks to its performance, let see how long it takes
Nice step up! Let us know how you like the card and cooler once you get it. I like my EVGA card except for the ACX 2.0 cooler which I replaced. It was horribly noisy with any RPM capable of cooling the card (and not too great in cooling performance either), but perhaps newer EVGA coolers are better. I'd like to keep using EVGA in the future but won't if their coolers haven't improved.
I had Acx 2.0 on my Evga 980ti`s and had no issues, the Acx 3.0 steps it up a notch, what case were you using cuz i`ve had great temps with Evga 680, 980ti and 1070FTW.
I did an RMA with EVGA sometime last year because of the thermal pad debacle and it only took a few days for me to get my new card. As far a temps go very good temp wise and I also have FTW edition 1070.
They just put in thermal tape, they don't have enough NEW VIDEO CARDS to send to everyone who bought a GPU.........
Fractal Design Define R5 (still using it). I dunno, it was loud as hell (to me) at above 50 % fan speed and temps were always 75+ - 80+ C when gaming. Now have Accelero Xtreme IV, virtually inaudible at fixed 75 % fan speed and temps are between 60 - 65 C depending on load (if a game is easy on the GPU then often below 60 C).
I have FD R5 too anything about 45% fan with this 1060GTX is louder then any other fan in my cause but it will also keep temps below 70c, I really dont want to resort to bying Aftermarket fans like Accelero Xtreme IV i really dont want to be take cards apparnt and replace fans I thought the new fans then again my 660gtx hit about 70c under load too and that was under auto fan
The ebay seller i bought mine from... who just happen to be a thermals engineer(what ever that is) replaced all the pads in mine with Fugi-poly pads so instead of the 1797 hz turbo i get 1997hs without having to oc my self.
Yeah I wasn't too fond of replacing the cooler either but results speak for themselves. Removed the midplate too and put in some Enzotech heatsinks for RAM and VRMs. EVGA backplate still in place but with cable ties, still need to find small screws and nuts for it (fastening threads were in the midplate). So far from optimal solution definitely.
