11 years for me but was a regular visitor before creating an account. Post less frequently now with family etc. Kid also hogs my gaming PC during the day lol
I was a "lurker" for a long time (2002) before I joined. Long time between this and another popular GForce website at the time. l remember a scandal about forum protocol that pissed off forum members that eventually caused the website to fold. I know the url ended in .net Been a happy guru member since.
There's this one guy ... still here ever since 2000 Kind of ridiculous to realize we have been able to save all that content even after roughly I think it's four forum software CMS migrations.
I was 19 years old when I joined (16 years ago), are you kidding me? Nearly half my life. Course I'm a super lurker...
I probably used Guru3D for hardware reviews back in the early 2000's, but never actually created an account for the forums, but probably been here for couple of years now. What i really like about the forums is the Christmas gifts, but will i ever win anything is the question. How about you guys, been here for 10-15 years, have you won anything yet? hehe
I won a key for 3dmark, still appreciate that very much, honestly probably the only thing I ever won lol.
Same here, I've been lurking/reading reviews from the very, very early days, only got around creating an account in 2005 tough, since iirc I really, REALLY had to ask a specific question which I can't remember (but it was most likely in a PM). Forums were a big thing back then, funny how guru3d remained literally the only one where I kept being active on (besides, most of them vanished). But no, we're not getting any younger, and you know what? I'm happy to be part of the more old school crowd (yes, I realize there are some way elder gods than me around) than some of these streaming twitch/youtube "stars" ADD kiddie generation that can't be bothered to type more than one sentence, yet alone read trough pages of threads. So yeah, long live guru3d!
I completely agree with you Solfaur. Communicating and socializing via forums may be out of date for some youngsters these days, but it's easily my preferred way to spend my time online (vs streaming ever second of my daily life as if anyone would really care what I ate for breakfast this morning).
I haven't always been an active forum member, but guru3d.com has always been a source of the latest reviews of the greatest new tech. Plus the downloads section has been really beneficial! nearly 12yrs for me I think.
I am thankful to guru3d for inspiring (and pushing) to implement little tools for community (programming is fun). And for humor. And for tweaks. And for troubleshootings.
