    Thanks, this is helpful.

At the end of installing the original copy of the game from DVD it lets you check for an update, I kind of remember it just opening up a page with the updates there for people to download..... it feels like so long ago now I can barely remember :V

Yeah that might've been, I can't remember either :D I've been thinking about replaying Crysis again as well. I haven't done a physical install of that game in ages as I've ditched disc drives completely and I've played the Origin version. On a side note I always wondered why the Origin versions have no 64bit support...

Yeah that's weird... the retail copy definitely has 64bit version.

Origin version has the 64 bit when downloaded from origin. My origin copy comes with 32/64 bit and game updated to 1.21 patch.

New Nvidia cards do not do some AA modes even on DX9 on Crysis.Lets say you try to do Sparse-Grid AA/SGSSAA you will get an error from Nvidia drivers.
Best AA for Crysis is modded shader file with some downsampling.

where to get this modded shader file?

  6. This game was and is still right up there with one of the most game changing developments in the PC gaming world. I really loved the original Far Cry too, my mind was blown when I first played those games.

1.Best results is to play in devmode. Also for Mods to work Correctly.
ADD(-devmode)to crysis target line in shortcut to game.
    Looks like:Electronic Arts\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -devmode

2.Just Drop Xzero's files into: ...\Electronic Arts\Crytec\Crysis\Game In addition to this however you Must Delete the "ShaderCache.pak" file whats in there(Make backup of file of course).
Also Delete the "Shaders" folder which is located in My Documents\My Games\Crysis.
Once that's done and you restart the game, Load up a level (not a quicksave or checkpoint) and you will notice alot of things like textures missing.
Don't worry though, its normal! This is because the game is re-compiling the shaders, so once that's done (may take a minute or 3) you should be able to play the game as normal.

3.Set custom motion blur to avoid problem or add this to autoexec.cfg
    r_MotionBlur = 4

4.With xzeros Post AA you can use in autoexec.cfg
    r_useedgeAA 2

Xzero's Shaders he was one of the first to modify the shader file with AA method and some other stuff.

CryZENx modified the files a little different.

I also added easy installer for different shader files over here.

Missed that but yeah I meant Crysis Warhead, Origin version doesn't have 64bit support whereas the disc version does.

the water is mind blowing even by today standards, a game so much ahead of its time in terms of visuals and i dont think we will have a better game at showing recreation of an island setting

While I agree the beginning part is better than 'aliens' I've never thought it's a game 'breaker'.

If anything I think Crysis is the only game that makes a seamless transition from open(ish) world to linear set piece(ish) shooter mid game and works greatly as either.

Yeah in retrospect you can tell it's just paving way to Crysis 2 and the general switch to more linear play but I am impressed anyway.

And if you want to, you can look at it as a turn of events. The beginning is you and your mates infiltrating Korean operations so there is more freedom of approach.
Once poop hits the fan, it becomes more a battle for survival so your options are limited from then on.

A little suspension of belief goes a long way in video games.

The story is ludicrous but I didn't expect social commentary or personal growth from a Crytek shooter.
Give me badass hardware to dispose of enemies and I'm.set.

After reading some of this thread, I re-installed Crysis and I was surprised to see I still can't play it with all details set to very high, heh.. I can, but it's not 50 - 60 FPS. At high, it almost stays at 60.

I noticed all my VRAM is used. I only have 2 gig, but still, I was surprised at that and my GPU usage is like 95%. It does run very well on high and for being 10 years old, it's amazing.

I could probably get the 50 - 60 FPS I want on very high if I didn't have the res set to 1440p..
