Seems like a pretty good deal actually plus the 970 is a very capable gpu ! Here is the link grab em while you can lol.http://www.microcenter.com/product/453500/GeForce_GTX_970_(Refurbished)_4GB_PCIe_Video_Card I got my Strix Gtx 980 for even cheeper $100 bucks, whahaha! They also sell Refurbished 1070 but those cost $329.99 so not sure if that is worth it.Bang for your buck is gone at that price.
Yeap, and that you got a 980 way cheaper is awesome, but a 970 even refurbished is a great deal at this price. The video card market is such a mess price wise right now, on ebay some are trying to sell these 900 series second hand cards for over £300. lol
I never bought anything from ebay, not saying theres something wrong with it lol.Yeah the 980 was my buddys he got himself a 1080 so $100 bucks was a steal for that card! Before that I had a 780 that i also bought from same guy for $100 bucks (pattern) hoping to get his 1080 for you guess it. ( joke) A pair of 970s in sli is no joke!~ From time to time MC has some awsome deals on refurb cards.
My 980 is faster then my previous 780 but honestly does not feel like alot faster a tad maybe? One thing thats improved is the Thermals on maxwell. My 780 use to hit 70-80c stressed the 980 never goes past 40-45c stressed and is faster then 780 ti by a little. 1080 however is faster then 980 sli, thats what i really want ! I am raving now sorry.
I have been toying with the idea of grabbing a second hand 970 to give sli a try, BUT, my only issues with games are in VR where i could do with a bit more oomph as the 970 is right at the bottom of the VR ready stuff, it works, and it works fine, bit i can see it is giving it's all the poor wee thing, and i would love to use the supersample feature, even at say 1.2 you can see a difference in the VR quality but i may as well be asking my 970 to run the national power grid at those settings. lol
I am nowhere near trying vr yet,And no offence I do not like it too much but my kids both want one lol.
Sounds good, i have been waiting for a mini 1080 to appear in stock as my case is a mid size one and the Asus 970 i have in it at present just about makes it with about half a inch to spare before it hits the drive bays, and i don't really want a bigger case, so this mini will work a treat...cheers.
Not a bad price for a 970. The 970 is still a capable card despite the VRAM issues. In my gaming Laptop I am using a GTX 1060 6GB and man its a great card for 1080p.
I have such a refurb card in my Linux computer, also from MicroCenter. Looks like new. Works perfectly. Even better if you prefer reference blower coolers.
I have yet to find a good reason to replace my 970 on my 1080p 144hz monitor setup. Still a decent card.
