As for MEI drivers, since they are a complete driver package, installing them should not cause any issues.
As for INFs package, installing them on a supported OS is usually meaningless (unless the OS fails to configure the default device driver), and can be potentially harmful if forced on an unsupported system (like forcing Intel Chipset 5 Series inf package on Windows 10).
Personal opinion about MEI: it should be banned worldwide by UNO, it a legalized/unregulated backdoor made by a private company (which is one of the worst speaking about software engineering!) that can be potentially cause instability or serious security holes to the whole system. . If for a private consumer user that could be not a big deal, for companies (big and small) and any kind of public governance office (from school or a townhall office to a government office) it could be potentially a catastrophe. It is also completely useless for the final user, if someone want a decent hardware security system a simple updated (or just not too old) TPM chipset would be enough for most of professional usages. But this is OT...

I keep having to turn "real-time protection" off every 12 hours before it automatically turns it self back on.

Did something change in 16299 and/or how do I stop it from interfering with my files and system?

I'm asking for help since I found that it will use a lot of CPU time when mining my data.

Disable defender in group policy, or install another AV and it will auto disable it

Group Policy: Start > Run: gpedit.msc

strange things happening after this update.
chrome processes no longer shows on the background process section. its grouped together in apps sections.
    same with firefox
steam takes long time to start.. I start it and nothing happens for a lest 30 seconds. nothing shows in task manager that its starting. and then it starts and same as chrome. no background processes and group together in apps sections.

steam client bootstrapper and webhelper normally listed in background process are now grouped together in apps...

    edit:
i dont know maybe it supposed to look that now. but still having the steam problem

    edit:
weird. after I updated my gpu drivers, steam instantly starts now....

Yea SiB 2.5.2 is the latest version for 10, not really any must-have settings, just personal preference really

These are my non-appearance settings though

Just about to do a fresh install on a new build. Any advice, or is it possible to install an older version?

Anyone able to mount ISOs from USB sticks with this build?

I have to copy the ISO to the PC or it just gives a mount error, used to work with previous releases

I clean installed it on an SSD on my 8 year old laptop a couple days ago and haven't had any problems with it, I know the store updates a load of apps for a while after first boot which could cause apps to take a while to open

Did you update it to 16299.64 too? (Latest CU)

It is a buggy PoS for a lot of people though, another reason I stick to LTSB on my main machine

Hopefully it will fix those bugs I'm seeing on my three 1709 installations. Funnily enough they are partially different between all three.

Cool, let us know if it helps, I have my 1709 update set to delay 90days, may have to up that if problems still around.
there nothing in it and if it doesn't fix old issues and brings new ones i will pass.

Oddly no, the only time I had some issues was during the first clean install of 16299.15 build on a machine with X-Fi PCIE. Second clean install went fine and other two machines never had any issues with Start. I do have a weird issue with Enterprise edition though - for some reason I can't set my profile image.
