I can't play this game any more as I'm finding the texture seaming issue too distracting... it's even there on the title screen with the menus overlaid on the projector screen!!!

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/nrx364wsh6rjd3f/601430_20171014201657_1.png?dl=0

Is this a driver issue because I cannot believe that no-one else has noticed this? It's like playing a PlayStation One era game minus the texture warping.

    *EDIT*
Fix is to force 16xAF in the NVIDIA control panel The Evil Within 2 profile apparently. Going to try it now...

    *EDIT 2*
AFx16 *does* fix the issue. Thank goodness for that! :D

I've noticed texture disappearing and reappearing already. Where you find the sniper gun, the guys blood or shadow keeps appearing and disappearing. Anyone else notice this?

I saw that too, even with cfg edit

    image_anisotropy "8"

So does driver forced 16xAF work?

it didn't work for me at all , actually it broke the driver and caused the game audio to run @ 3x speed which was funny for a bit

re-installed the driver and the problem is no more

now to boost the performance motion-blur options needs to be off completely and the MB quality must be LOW , 4k/60fps is possible with that however AA must be turned down a bit

Yes, it does. Works absolutely fine and I've noticed no side-effects at all. The game looks so much better now. Shame it doesn't fix the mediocre performance though...

I think its the Depth of Field setting that is causing the stuttering on my PC. On Medium there is far less of it and I can leave everything else as set by the Ultra preset. The engine still drops below 60 fps frequently although G-SYNC does help it making it less noticeable.

Played the game to Chapter 8 and was really enjoying it until I got to *that* boss fight. Not to spoil it for anyone has reached there yet; what I will say is that it feels a bit cheap with all the teleporting he does. It's really difficult to get a shot in. Gave up in the end as I was getting too frustrated with it.

I'm four hours in... and still in chapter 3.
And I'm loving it. I've currently capped the frame rate to 30fps. While not great, it's a constant, smooth frame rate and it feels better then the back and forth it was the doing before.

Currently just walking around searching for supplies and green gel.
Also... found Corvo's mask from DisHonored, and the Quake rocket launcher. So... now searching for more references.

Instead of playing @30fps, do yourself a favor and set your monitor at 74hz for 37fps or at least 70hz for 35fps... it´s a very small difference in fps but it will let you see how much of a mess 30fps are on pc, since like forever, I don´t know why microsoft and nvidia/amd have not addressed the issue after all this time. Also nvidia needs to fix their forced driver vsync which doesn´t work, in game vsync hurts performance.

Btw enemy mechanics are cheap and the story is a bit ridiculous, but the ambientation and sound are ok.

I tried the game at 30 FPS at 4K but I found it too sluggish, especially when turning which looks and feels really... off. That’s with G-SYNC as well.

I bet it feels much better on consoles though; I can’t explain it but there is a very noticeable difference it how it looks and feels to play. Basically, I play games at 30 fps on my PS4 Pro but not on PC, even with the Xbox One controller. The only exception was Forza Horizon 3 which played absolutely fine at 30 FPS and 4K until they fixed the game and made a consistent 60 FPS possible.

Why that is, I really don’t know. Poor frame-pacing perhaps?

While I'd rather play the game at 60fps, the little shifts between 60 to low 50s to mid 70s... is enough to make it feel just a bit off.
30fps is not ideal, but, it's smooth and a solid constant frame rate.

And, I'll take a solid, consistent frame rate. And, given this is a pretty slow paced game, it doesn't hurt the experience really.
I look forward to Tango releasing a few updates, which should improve the experience.

Using the in-game console to test a few toggleable settings.

No idea why this shader effect in particular totally decimates the framerate. (Which at a reported 45 is not too impressive, admittedly though it's better than how it worked in the first where 30 FPS cap was useful due to the dips the 60 FPS com_fixedtic mode caused.)

Best seen in motion though, it's not too intrusive even at a higher value which is nice and there's a slider in the options menu already for film grain strength too.

The middleware for global ambience or illumination, probably uses pretty light settings as it didn't impact the overall framerate much.

Physical based rendering ambient lighting I guess, has a small gain on the framerate but it does kill a lot of the lighting in the game.

Hides the character model, not too useful unless you're also using the debug camera, but that doesn't seem to allow for movement so still a bit limited in functionality.

Not too aggressive in this game, still noticeable but it's not like each color channel is suddenly visibly separated.

-1, negative values work but you probably wouldn't do that.
    https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4512/37713317631_4f0a6b4a7b_o.jpg

The default 1.0 already applies some sharpening, disabling it might be handy if you're using something like ReShade for other methods of image sharpeness, game is a bit blurry after all.

    https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4510/37713317341_97901299ff_o.jpg

Disables tonemapping for coloration but might hit other shaders too, also has a slight framerate gain but the game looks pretty flat and ugly without this though each scene is a bit different.
(It's not quite the same straight up green/yellow filter in say Rage though even in that game it hit some other effects as well if you disabled the glare.)

Similar to other idTech5 games sharpening (negative values.) do increase texture quality slightly (The game even uses -2 by default at higher quality settings.) and setting it to 0 already shows some degradation in quality, going to 2 and 4 respectively almost completely destroys texture quality.

    https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4462/37456002180_6ffcddf2b2_o.jpg

-2 compared to -4, slight bump in texture quality but not a huge increase though it's visible, higher is possible but has only smaller noticeable changes from what I could tell at least.

Other issues? Well aliasing and image clarity is the main one, downsampling probably works really well for this game but the games issues even with state-of-the-art CPU's and GPU's like the 1080Ti and still having poor or at least very varied GPU and CPU usage when monitored is a problem, hopefully the games problem with whatever is bottlenecking this can be improved via patches. :)

Well back to killing zombies for green-gel, need those skill points after all, and all the other materials.
(While avoiding the bigger enemies and their tendency to do grab attacks for massive damage including instant death, there seems to be a number of these encounters in this game too ha ha.)

with Reshade magic and RTTS fps cap i created a cinematic feel to the game with this 24fps mode + IQ effects (filmicpass, clarity, filmgrain and fake motion blur in addition to the game's MB )

    also cinematic black bars :p
