Yet another core i7 8700K review leaks today, this time originating from Romania. As you guys know, most of the EU media isn't seeded processors for reviews anymore by Intel (it's like we do not exi...

8600k may turn out to be the new Gaming King.

up to 50 % performance increase MY BUNZ , better off overclocking your current 6th or 7th gen then spending another mini fortune for the 8th gen if you just want a game rig.
Feel bad for anyone that purchased Z270 boards thinking Intel will allow them to upgrade to 8th Gen:oops:
I just switched from i7 2700K to AMD r7 1700 running @ 3.8GHz air cooled now pretty stable and must say happy with my decision. However i must also add that my i7 2700K has served me well over the years and its good to see intel finally moving away from dual-core / quad-core mainstream & high-end processors.

It depends on your use, the 8700K is mostly a gaming CPU, and very little can beat it at that use case.
If you can load up all cores a heavily overclocked I5 8600k can barely compete with the 1700, maybe the 8700k can beat the 1700 in cinebench.
So it depends on what you do with your pc, there is no CPU that is perfect for everything.

The thing that interest me most is the cooler requirements for this CPU, because 5GHz is not easy on a 7700k and it will only be harder on the 8700K unless something drastic has changed.

This is looking awesome! Thank you AMD, I'll be sure my next processor will be some flavour of Ryzen.
Now, let us see what the price drops and refreshes from AMD will look like.

I would like to see those benchmarks @1440p......right now I have a 1080p monitor but of course, in the next few months/years I will get a new one and is going to be 1440p. A 1700 Ryzen CPU+350mobo is always going to be cheaper than a 8700k+Z370+212Evo fan and I think is going to be more "future proof"

IPC is about 1-2% over last gen typically averages at 1fps since someone leaked performance on single core performance with a 7700k @ 4.5Ghz and the 8700k also at 4.5GHz. The 4.7GHz turbo really helps it but in metro the 7700k beat out the 8700k which was kinda strange.

Intel could have made it ever since Sandy-Bridge, that they didn't shows their disdain for their customer base. It's also amusing that AMD managed to catch them with their pants down as a result of them getting too comfortable with their little monopoly.

Actually in games, the 8600K will be slower in a slice of the titles than the 7600K, and the 8700K slower than the 7700K. How can you tell the new gaming king will be the 8600K? And still about 100 EUR (~50%) more expensive than an R5 1600. Intel doesn't seem to learn.

    No it won't be slower.
All core turbo and single core turbo are equal/higher on the 8600k plus an additional 2 cores.

    MSRP of 8600k is 250.
    R5 1600 is 215.

    No where near 50%

So definitely going to be the go to gaming CPU.
Pretty good deal considering 8600k will run full circle around the r5 1600 in games.

Base clocks of the 7700k are 4.2ghz. Not sure of the all core turbo but the base clocks of the 8700k are 3.7 and all core turbo of 4.3, so out of the box turbo and base clocks of the 7700k are both higher which explains why it beat the 8700k when no overclocking is in play. I suspect if you clocked them both to 4.6 or 4.8 etc the 77000k would perform at best on par with the 8700k if it gains no advantage in that game due to extea cores.

Related to the article though. The 8700k performs about 50% faster in farcry primal over an 1800x, both in min and avg frames and also has a 50% increase in performance in doom in min frames and a 50% increase in min frames in GTA5 as well, as well as a minor lead in avg frames.

Goes to show avg frames don't show the whole picture.

Most reviewers would show benches at 4k and say 'see, all the results are around 6o frames and gpu bottlenecked'. But the GTA5 min frames go from 31 frames on the 1800x to 48 frames on the 8700k...massive difference.

WOW!!!! This is the most uninformed and ignorant posts I have ever read on this forum. I don't know if I should even poke holes in it as Agent pretty much already did.

First off base and turbo clocks are equal or higher than the 7600k (same with the 7700k<8700k statement)
Second as Agent posted there will be only about a $35 difference in price between 8600k and 1600. Remember with Intel you can just slap cheap DDR4 in the system and it will not bottleneck the interconnects from core to core causing latency issues. z370 boards are going to likely be around the same price a x370 boards so a 1600 core system and a 8600k core system will likely cost the same in the end.

B350 is a lot cheaper though. Do you know if there going to be a budget board option for CL?

well this is the result of competition.
this would've been the hedt 6 core before ryzen. i like it a frack-ton more at this price than the mid 600's.

there is a real missed opportunity for ryzen itx. most mobos on market are really lame and Intel hits hard on itx form factors.
why is this...? is it the partners or amd...?

i mean asrock has a sweet dual m.2 on the atx am4 no reason they couldn't do a double decker (top/bottom of circuit board) on an itx...
and what's with the minuscule power delivery on those itx am4 boards?
