You have to go manual in safe mode OR go to options and choose the option for reboot to safe mode.

Also new radeon driver today with mGPU support, so new stuff for clean up i guess lol.

I'm having a problem, at least in the last 2 versions it doesn't seem to store settings in the roaming folder when configured to.

Just used 17.0.7.5 (with the auto reboot to safe mode) to remove 17.9.1...all good.

    Hi.
Where is the option to reboot in safe mode?
That pop up telling me to reboot in safe mode was nice.

Start DDU, go to Options menu and look up for option at the bottom, check that option and upon next start DDU will show option for reboot in Safe Mode...etc.

There seems to be a bug with the config from some versions. I must untick it to store settings in the Roaming folder, and only after that, the last option to show the startup menu will be applied after loading the local \settings\Settings.xml.

Just to add, this happens to me after launching a new program version from its new folder. It seems to read a previous configuration when going to options, but it isn't applied on start (at least the boot menu) until I tell the program not to use the roaming folder. After that, the next time I launch it, the menu will show.
If I re-enable the roaming folder use later, the boot menu still will show the next time the program is launched. But that's probably because it's now configured to on the ddufolder\local\Settings.xml.

    Possible Bug Crash:

Formatted drive with brand New install of Window 10 creator x64. Updated with all Windows updates.

Tried running AMD Installer Crimson 17.9.3 x64. During installation, screen turns black and turns on and proceed. Near the end of installation(progress bar(the grey/white bar) the mouse froze along with the entire screen. Left it like that for 30 mins. Still froze. Tried earlier version of Crimson-still froze.

No antivirus. Just window defenders which i temporary disable.

Tried using AMD Uninstaller-froze the entire computer almost immediately.

Tried Using DDU latest version, it manages to uninstall. It even said uninstall complete and then froze a couple sec later.

Try to reinstall AMD Crimson-still froze the same way(near the end of installation).

Looked at eventviewer, no logging of the problem due to complete freeze.

-Ran MSI KOMBUSTER. GPU runs fine. Ran MEMORY CHECK-ALL perfect. Ran chkdsk with /R /F --everything is okay. ran sfc/ scannow and dism -all okay.

Could this be a possible bug of windows 10 creator x64 with AMD driver?

Is it possible to know what is causing the complete freezing?

Check if there is a DDU log withing the DDU folder.
The creator update you installed is the new one coming out on 17 oct or the version 1703 (15063) ?

At first , I will say something is wrong with you computer as the AMD installer/ uninstaller should not freeze the entire computer like that either.

I've tried it under 16299.15 without a problem (probable "RTM", as before the Oct 17th's ZDP). Had no freezes both when uninstalling 17.9.3 non-whql via AMD setup (or later safe mode DDU), or when installing whql 17.9.3 whql. This on a 890GX mb + HD7870.

I don't have problems with DDU on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, and yes, build 16299.15 is the "RTM" one. Clean installed that build of W10 and used latest version of DDU without any issues.

Now when launching the program, configuring it to taste (also enabling the safe mode dialog) and setting it to store settings in the roaming folder, It's possible to delete the DDU folder (and its settings file), and the first time it's launched after decompressing it, it'll load the previously set options (including starting with the safe mode dialog). The problem seems fixed!
Btw, where is it storing the roaming folder startup settings? I can't seem to find the corresponding file/folder.
