Dam well it looks like he is only taking some time off to spend with his family,Amd is Growing Big-time and I am very happy to see them finally be able to compete and even beat Intel,I cannot speak much about the graphics portion ( Radeon) I havent ran a Radeon since the 6970 but they are off to a very good start! Wish them all the best as I am sure many of us here do. Go Amd and Radeon! Even tough I like Nvidia more lol.

Raptr shutdown, Raja on "vacation". PC gaming is suffering two huge losses.

He has a bright future in the mining field.

Nvidia should be worried, Navi is coming!

    LOL

Somehow Nvidia can manufacture enough GPUs to satisfy the demand while AMD cannot. That should be a big worry for AMD. People can't buy their products if no products are available for purchase, so it's lost sales and lost money.

If Nvidia will develop a better card for mining that will kill AMD on GPU for desktop.

    Don't give Nvidia ideas.

If AMD lost the mining craze train, it's game over for his "gaming" GPU dep.

Weak competition is better than none.

So by there being no availability means they are selling out as soon as they come in, means that is bad for business? What school of economics taught you that nugget? Yes like OMG... Vega didn't beat an 1080TI wholly hand grenade, but at the 1080 level it's a no brainer. Choose with your money, not your mouth.

If Nvidias stock situation was as limited as Vegas, they would be sold out too. I think AMD erred on the side of caution, after all, they knew the reviews would not be as positive as they wished, so they may not have wanted to produce massive quantities that would encumber them if over-stocked. And yes, as you say, "choose with your money, not your mouth", so if Vega 64 actual price (not MSRP) is higher than a 1080, would be pretty dumb not to choose the more power efficient 1080 over it. So its not as you say a "no brainer".

i agree if NVidia get on the mining train as AMD, we will all play on IGP and APU... lol :)

Right now the best AMD in stock for consumer is RX560 in lot of country when on NVidia's side you can get again GTX 1080(Ti) and 1070... since june 2017... it is a problem for long term commercial strategy for AMD despite good money incoming.

mining is not a long time solution.. they need to get back their market. for miners the sells look great now. many people might say they have good cards now. see vega is basically a year late product. they have nothing to compete with the top end for a while. they cudnt fight the 1080 last year and they have nothing against 1080ti this year.. the gpu market is strange and usually the company has the top card sells more cards even in the middle section too.. we dont see that r8 now just because miners. i didnt see a single good gpu from amd after 290x. they must go back to the board and redesign.. no more GCN...

What people are trying to say is, if AMD would have more cards available they could make more money. Sounds legit, and I'm sure you see that argument just as valid as everybody else.

Honestly I think they did a good job with Vega (especially the Vega56), but availability is what makes the whole launch such a burden on gamers. If the gamers could get their cards just like they were able on release day (well, one hour at least), it would have been a far better launch.
Mining is a bubble... just wait and see. All that needs to be done is one big bitcoin holder to pull out and the market's trash. I just wonder where the days of power efficiency have gone, since that used to be AMD's domain whereas Nvidia offered raw power back in the days with higher temps and power draw. Now that Vega is out and it uses more power, the only option to make the card valid to miners is to optimise it's mining output. If Nvidia indeed would focus on mining, I'm fairly sure AMD would be blown out of the water just because of Nvidia's superior R&D budget. Luckily for AMD, Nvidia concentrates on machine learning and neural networks, which will soon be everywhere, for better or worse, meaning good cash flow for Nvidia while AMD still tries to even serve the demand they are already facing when Nvidia is going for new markets.

The guy worked his ass off day and night for the past year and even so Vega was "late" and "disappointing". Imagine if he (and others) didn't sacrifice so much, Vega would be here by mid 2018...
For sure Navi is on the way and the roadmaps are planed for Vega 11 and 20. He needs a time off? Give the man some family time.
My only grudge against AMD is not having enough Polaris to meet demand, in the end I had to buy an RX560 instead of the RX570 I wanted...

For me this seem a polite way of AMD saying that Raja Kodori failed and that maybe it´s better if he steps off and give the place to another person... My interpretation of this of course, it could be just and extended vacation.

He's a big boss in a high profile company. He can't just disappear without anybody knowing what's going on. It would have all kinds of consequences.

For all we know, this extended vacation might have even been a doctor's orders. Obviously they wouldn't tell that to the public.

The thing is, if you go down the road of sources given, at one point (fudzilla) it just says "according to our source" without any further information. It might as well be a leaked internal email for all we know.
