Looks like i5 8600K is going to be closer to 300 euros over here if it's that much in Germany already. Not that it'd matter to me personally with Intel's decision of dropping the support of the previous two chipset gens.

Well in my honest opinion, i think it it €100-€120 too much, comparing with the price tag on caseking.de
The new coffee lake I7 is 7.56% faster then the 1600X at stock speed, using the leaked benchmarks by intel, it uses "Colgate TIM" vs soldered on AMD.
And people should stock comparing the new I7 with ryzen 7, the best and most honest comparison is vs 1600X.
My 1600X is a gold cpu (got lucky) it is clocked to 4.2GHZ all clocks with just 1.362V, and its uses a cheap air cooler and i manage to stay under 68ºC all the time. But the for all the ryzens that i build until now i have always managed to get 4.1 on the 1600X using no more then 1.37V.
I still think that at 1080 or 1440 the 1600X is king with either a RX 580/GTX1060 for 1080P, GTX1070/GTX1080/GTX1080TI/RXVEGA56 for 1440P. Because the difference in performance at 1080p is not more then 2 digit,

In aus the 7700k is $459 and the 1800x is $659....even if the 8700k was $659 it would still be a way better cpu for the money, especially for gamers.

I wish our prices were that nice...

But other than that, people don't usually buy the 1800x by the looks of it, since they are all unlocked, unlike Intel's offerings where you need to pay separately for every single little functionality. That being said, I'm sure these Coffee Lakes will kick ass. Too bad they are a few years late already.

Those prices are what I expected but not what I hoped for.
Now the gaming performance will determine if those prices worth it.

Well, best bang for buck will be i5-8600k for gamers i think 6/6 is more than enough for gaming. Then, we should wait and see what will zen2 bring on the table in terms of gaming.

So it´s basically the same prices as the previous 7700/7600K but with 2 extra cores.
I would be interested in the 8600K if it worked with my MB but it doesn´t so i´ll save the money for a future GPU.

I´m curious to see how well those parts are going to overclock with two more cores knowing how hot the 7700K can be with just 4 cores...

Don't forget it's non soldered. That means temp's will be once again all over the place.

It's a shame we had to wait for AMD to make a move so Intel would release this and some people don't even see that.
If AMD didn't exist, I would never need to get rid of my i5 2500k. Shame on you Intel, shame on you.

That's 2 less theads than what is currently available...what I currently have, and it will have similar clocks and ipc as current chips. Maybe slightly better.

Why would any skylake or kaby lake owner uograde to a new cpu and new chipset and likely the cost of a new windows key....for likely no increase in performance.

That would be the worst case of sidegrade/downgrade insanity I have ever heard of.

I'm still running 3570K so 8700K looks pretty tempting :)

Can you tell me why are you comparing the 1800X to the 7700K? Compare it to 1500X or maybe 1600/X. LMAO.

    +100

7600K is 6-7% faster (in the initial reviews, since than, Ryzen got faster in some games at least, like RotTR) in FHD gaming than the 1600, 2% faster in 1440P and equal in 4K. 8600K will be maybe 1-2% more compared to the 7600K. Speaking of the +50-60 EUR extra cost compared to the 1600 and the higher mobo prices (Z for the 7600K and B for the Ryzen) -combined, you may get a +100$ price tag -, I don't know how on earth can you say is best bang for buck.

No, not really. The prices raised for the K versions for about 30 EUR...

You seriously think hyperthreading is equal to a physical core?

Not everyone has i7 and 6 real cores (i5-8600k) probably gonna beat 4 real cores with ht but not by a big margin. 8th gen will be better choice for people who have older systems like me.

    If you check benchmarks, yes.

The 8600K will be slower in games compared to the 7700K. That's 99% probability.

fasamir: Nope, it won't beat it.

That video review was one of the best and most comprehensive reviews I have ever watched and it paints ryzen in a much better light. It's a shame that on it's own it's hard to take it 100% seriously though as no other review showed ryzen to perform that well really. Looks like other reviewers focused too much on gpu limited games and average frame rates only.

I just subscribed to that channel too.

People criticising ryzen criticised it's low max clocks and ipc as a result of the focus on cores. No one said more cores won't be benificial, and anyone who isn't insane did 't expect a 6 core non hyperthreading cpu to somehow be magically better for gaming than a 4 core 8 thread i7....I don't know how you are combining those 2 separate things into one.

Actually that is not true. Techpowerup and Guru3d also made nice reviews, the former showing 6% difference to 7600K and 12% to 7700K in 1080P gaming. That is just a tiny disadvantage if you take prices and performances into account together. 1500X/1600/1600X costs much less than the 7700K for minimal gaming peformance loss, and getting the same or more amount of cores and threads. Comparing the same Ryzens to the 7600K, you get even less performance loss in FHD gaming, but for the same money (1600 and 1500X are even cheaper than the 7600K) you get more threads and/or cores, meaning that you can easily run other applications in the background without having performance loss. And of course the same is true when we compare 1600/1600X to 7700K. More cores-threads, much more versatile CPU for 120$ less (+ cheaper mobo). That's a lot bang for the buck.

The problem is most sites do not make enough benchmark for proper averaging. Benchmarking 3-4 games is simply not enough. You need to do at least 10 different games, even 15-20 to get a proper result.
