BTW small tip for those that are fighting all old posts prior to the migration being tagged as new post. If you look at the top left side of the forums, right under the Home link you can reset all threads to read with the "Mark Forums Read" link.
I do appreciate that change is sometimes necessary, but I'm finding the new format and looks much harder to easily read and see information. The old system was clean, simple, and a pleasure to browse. This new system is sensory overload and it's tiring to browse the forums now. Just my 2c.
I've been through many forum changes over the years and have almost always hated them at first but ended up liking them more in the end. Most notably Anandtech (also xenforo) where there was quite a lot of negative feedback. They also had far more issues and teething problems, including a couple weeks of lost posts in migration. So quite relieved HH pulled it off as smoothly as he has.
Yeah man if you think about it its like playing a game for the first time. You dont really get the mechanics and you certainly dont master it yet but give another shot and it will start to feel like second nature to you. Of course its hard using a new format the first time, youre like "whats all this then". Im still a little lost too but i dont find anything wrong with it per se.
Made some small tweaks to the default skin. Quoted text is now less bright, making it easier on the eyes as it doesn't pop out that screamy anymore. Also the messages body has been toned down a notch in darker grey with the edge shades a bit tweaked. I think we're slowly getting there.
Got a problem trying to create a new thread for the latest Windows Insiders preview build: The following error occurred: Please enter a message with no more than 15000 characters. These are generally fairly long posts due to the changelog, and it won't tell me how many characters I've used to split into separate posts (Which would be a PITA tbh lol) Could it be increased / remove the limit?
What thread is that? I mean, the limit was 10K characters, i already raised that towards 15.000 .. which is a lot already.
It won't go live due to being over the limit, but it's the latest Windows 10 preview build that's just been released Basically copying the text / images from here as I do each build release https://blogs.windows.com/windowsex...ng-windows-10-insider-preview-build-16273-pc/ EDIT - Notepad++ says 15608 characters EDIT - I've removed some of the initial paragraphs and managed to get it posted here https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-10-rs3-build-16273.416461/ Adding the removed text to post No.2
Thanks, not sure what the limit on the old board was but I created much longer single posts than that and only ever ran into an image limit
Just checked out the default skin. The bright white is gone, now a subdued off-white which is much easier on the eyes. Yeah we're definitely getting there !
Hey guys, sorry about a stupid question, but how can I "unwatch" a thread now? Ie. unsubscribe in old forum terms? Also the new design is slowly sinking in, it's jazzy!
How do you see which topics you have posted in, or have those been lost in the migration? There used to be an icon on the very left of the old forum for the status of the threads, one had a black triangle in it that meant 'You have posted in this thread'.
Scales way better on my phone now much easier to read. Before I had to expand and scroll to read posts.Liking this new format a lot.
Ah, I thought it looked a little easier on the eyes today! I think that's made a world of difference, even though the Default has always been my favourite since you launched the new forums - for me you could just leave it right there, don't think the colours need changing at all now, I'm reading this in a dark'ish room on a calibrated screen at 120cdm and it's perfect on the eyes with no strain, yet still has the airy feel of the previous default from yesterday.
