In this article we review the sixteen core and 32 threaded Ryzen Threadripper 1950X. It is the flagship processor and product that will get a 3.4 GHz base frequency with the ability to precision boost...

Excellent review as always HH! :D

That 1950x looks tasty, but i'm not that into content creation so might be a bit overkill for me. Will wait for the 1900x review which i think is more suitable for me.

Most powerful desktop processor on the planet....3 years ago, who would have thought AMD would launch it in 2017??? Certainly not Intel!!

Well gaming is same as AM4 so increased bandwidth did not help with that slight bottleneck. Still phenomenal CPU. RIP Intel HEDT.

very impressive even the single core performance i thought it will be lower than intel competitive but @ 4Ghz it's matching with every intel CPU single core performance .
AMD done it right this time

What's weird is Anandtech's Rocket League results:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/11697/the-amd-ryzen-threadripper-1950x-and-1920x-review/17

It's nearly double Ryzen. This is a game a lot of Ryzen w/Nvidia card owners have a problem with too - my friend constantly complains about stuttering/weirdness. I think the issue is with Nvidia's drivers but it's weird that it only effects Ryzen and not Threadripper, even when Threadripper is running in UMA mode.

Overall AMD seems to hit it out of the park here.

So, basically, for $1000, if you go AMD instead of Intel, you can get a much, much faster processor, or for $200 less, you can still get a decently faster processor then going Intel.

    Yup.

So you're saying your friend has an nvidia GPU and ryzen CPU and is getting stuttering? I'd wager it has nothing to do with either of them, at least by themselves. Maybe the specific GPU he is using, possibly. I state this, simply because i play rocket league, and have never had stuttering...

As to anandtech, i'd more wonder if rocket league had an update between their tests of the Ryzen and Threadripper.

The real funny thing in that bench in the Fiji and Polaris results. AMD is sabotaging AMD with their drivers!!!!!!! Break out the pitchforks.

Yeah super weird, it's probably him, probably totally unrelated to these:

If the average FPS is 132 and it dips down to 70, what's that gonna feel like?

    Not a whole lot.

Though i'm confused where you came up with specifically 132 and 70.

Again, as i said, i'd wonder if rocket league had an update since them, or nvidia drivers.

If it was a universal issue, again: I'd feel the issue, i play rocket league, and i notice stuttering, as it's possibly the most annoying thing ever.

He has a 1080 and 1700x. I know his BIOS is updated, I don't know how Anandtech tested, if they retested Ryzen with newer BIOS's or whatnot. But I know the issue is fairly widespread, I'm subbed to the rocketleague sub and I see people post about it every now in then looking for solutions - most people recommend turning off Nvidia's threaded optimization.

Rocket League in general seems to have some weird issues related to FPS though, especially on 144hz monitors it would seem. The netcode rate is supposedly tied to your framerate - so large swings in framerate cause more excessive stuttering then in other games where that isn't the case.

Awesome review and awesome platform. Hats down to AMD, if I were to make a build now it would be X399 TR no doubt!
