Hello, I'm new to the forum, even if I'm already a fan of the community Then Hi everyone ! I have a question for you, hope someone will be able to help me. I would like to use MSI afterburn to set a PowerLimit value under the allowed value of 50% (I don't know if there is a risk to damage the graphic card but I don't think so except loosing performances). The slider in the application is blocked at 50% and cannot go under. I tried a trick to set that value to a lower one : https://rog.asus.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-81916.html (no link yet) Also tried to modify the PowerLimit with the input value to something under 50 (like 40) but without success. I also tried to enter a manual value but it keeps 50%. Do you know if the above trick should work ? or if we can change the slider minimum value somewhere ? Thank you for your help !
Hi, thanks for your answers, I will try to decrease the voltage too, I already lowered the core frequency but without impact on the consumption. The manufacturer of the card is MSI.
Oh, so you are one fo those *******s which bought entire stock of cards and now regular folks cannot buy them anymore?
Very nice mind spirit ... I'm not injuring you as far as I know ... then thanks for your help but please keep that kind of comments for yourself. That said, anyone can do whatever he wants with the hardware he buys, if manufacturers are playing with the offer like it is today I fill not really responsible. I'm also concerned by that kind of problem and probably more.
This might work I use a batch file to change my power limit on my 1080ti because it has another cards bios with higher power limit. Standard is 300W, this gives 358W. This makes sure it can use the extra headroom. start cmd.exe /k "C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI\nvidia-smi.exe" -i 0 -pl 358 You may be able to change the power limit to a suitable low value. Although I have no idea if it will cause stability issues. ie you may need to reduce clocks, voltage ... to compensate
Thank you very much for you tips mufflore, it works perfectly well ! Only bad news is I was already at the minimum NVIDIA powerlever for my card. But this is a really good tip ! Last thing I can try is as Terepin said to lower the voltage or frenquency, I will try that way. Any way thank you for your answers !
