Samsung has been fabbing two new manufacturing plants for chips. The new plant on Pyeongtaek has started mass producing the first chips, that one did cost almost 12 billion and will focus on the pro... Samsung invests 16 billion euro in new chip factories
Am I the only one who thinks they are trying to please someone (particular or population as a whole) in Korea...well... to close some nasty corruption cases against them?
What I personally do wait for is high capacity cheap SSD media storage offering. Current Samsung 4TB is at whopping 1.5k USD and is not really suitable for storage media (excluding noise freaks - like me - with bottomless wallet - not like me ). Cheap, 300-400 USD mark, 4TB with "slow" read / write speeds (something around 100-200MB/s) but without noise issue and low power consumption would definitely find customers. One can dream...
yep prices need to drop i'm still on 2tb ssd samsung, bought 2 years ago at 540€, price barely moved since then ^^
Currencies need to increase in value for prices of imported goods to drop. Cant keep outsourcing and expect your country's currency to maintain its value.
I bought a 960mb ssd on sale last year for $165 u.s. 440/460 speed and going strong. Works great for my needs. I always wait for a sale on a certain website, no free advertising sorry, but a hint would be what a bird does in a nest :]. 14 billion on a factory, that's twice the national gdp for Turkmenistan lol. Don't expect to see ssd prices to drop after they plunked down 14 billion. They will want to recover their investment, and it will be on the backs of us the consumer.
