Yeh definitely, rather than focusing on the games im also just anticipating the pauses. I've rolled back for now and I'm gonna send Nvidia some feedback. Will keep trying as each new release comes out, other than that, the Image quality, colors and textures looked great on these drivers.

Tried the driver on my 970, but ended up reinstalling the previous one.

Every few seconds while playing Dark Souls 3, the screen would stutter momentarily. No issues since reverting back to 381.78

why are people digging into the registry for this? there is a tickbox for it on the 'what blahblah button does' window in power properties.

Is anyone else finding that their card is downclocking regardless of the performance setting set in the driver configuration?

My GTX 1070 is downclocking despite having 'Maximum Performance' selected.

This behavior was normal with the 78 branch of drivers.

No not on all, It's not available under power option on my system that's why I had to disable it in the registry and why I gave it as a suggestion. Just cause something doesn't work for you doesn't mean it's useless for everybody else.

does this from what i have read because of power draw cap thats in bios and drivers, the card pulls more then the max its bios allow, it downclocks...

if anybody ever gets ahold of a bios they can modifiy or one without the cap, we will see 1070's perf boost quite a bit im sure..im told thats true of older cards when modified bios came out...hope it eventually happens here. 4

I'm aware that the BIOS sets a hard cap on Power Draw - but it's not downclocking one or two bins.
It is acting as if it's still on 'Adaptive' setting (despite the 'prefer maximum performance' being set), downclocking all the way to base boost clock.

if it doesn't appear, its not enabled on your computer in the first place.

the checkbox disappears if hiberfil is disabled or a device in the system is not compatible with S4.

Max performance only implies the base boost clock, anything else is extra.

It performed as normally sticking solidly at 2088 -2075 flat line throughout usage on 78 branch drivers.
I Guess I'll go back to them.
I just wanted to know if anyone else was seeing this behavior with these drivers.

    wonder if clockblocker would work?

i have read some nv users found it useful despite the fact it was made originally to work around fury bugs...

im sure its not the drivers though...its never the drivers..its microsoft or somebody elses fault...nvidia drivers are 100% flawless, always, ru makes that very clear...bugs are never nvidias fault.. ;)

as long as the framerate is maintained, gpu clocks will adjust accordingly.

it does seem like R380 is more aggressive at conserving power though.

I strongly suspect that fast boot utilizes hibernation, so if hibernation is off then fast boot is off too.

    Execute in command prompt
    powercfg /A
to see whether hibernation is on, and whether fast boot is available.

^ My response was aimed at stryfe2010 mostly. It kinda extends yours one with powercfg to check the state.

For whatever it's worth, i get 16% performance loss in passmark dx11 test, vs. 378.92

    on Win10 15063.250 x64

I just checked reg, I have it (hibernation ) disabled with powercfg and my reg has HiberbootEnabled=1

I am still on 1607, with fastboot disabled and not shown in control>power management

I disabled long ago cause system wouldn't come out of it cleanly, other than that all is fine, but still on 378.78

Edit: hibernation on/off setting is not this one. HiberbootEnabled is for fastboot only, while HibernateEnabled is for hibernation, which should disable fastboot (options will be gone from power options).
