IDE does not allow for sure UPNP of devices, as well certain features like NCQ. According to Intel suggestions, it also should allow to run some of proprietary RAID features and enhancement.
Some MB may also come with additional BIOS limitation using IDE. There is no reason to prefer IDE drivers anymore.

I did. Guy at work was complaining about slow work of VisualStudio (builds and search). When I discovered that his SATA was in IDE mode we switched it into AHCI and slowdowns were gone. But iirc he was on server edition (2012 or 2012 R2).

Sure whole rig was new, but I think it is sever edition thing - like better usage of multithreading, or more optimized/tweaked drivers.

possible, of all the HDD i use in my pc and others I never saw performance diffrence in any of them from IDE to ACHI or other wise, and majority of all the HDD are 7-10+ years old

Is this definitely the final build?

I am in the Insider Preview but currently opted for the 'safe' updates. If this the final build then I may back up my Windows drive tonight and opt into the Slow Ring to update to this newer build (is it v1703 or v1704).

The only fairly safe build is the one on CBB.

Anyone else getting "media foundation protected pipeline exe" high CPU usage and netflix app error right after that? Simply refreshing video starts the playback normally though. Other than that had no problems.

Fresh installed 1703 yesterday and all is fine except had a couple times last night where i lost internet connection for a few seconds, this happened twice.

I am connected via Ethernet and 100% certain the router is not at fault as I have IPTV and the channels were working as normal at the time

Strange, also lost my net connection twice since installing this build, but my phone also lost connection and that's wireless, so had to be the router, plus rebooting the router solved it

Who's your ISP? BT Infinity here, was wondering if they were having problems

I checked the problem status when it went off yesterday but it said everything was fine, not that that is much of an accurate site tbh, I've lost connection before and it said no issues, but BT had to come out and fix something at the exchange to repair it lol

Seems a bit of a coincidence that we both had disconnects, both with BT and both upgraded to RS2 lol

I'm betting on BT as my phone disconnected too and that's running Android
