AMD is pleased to announce its new AMD FX 6-core or FX 8-core CPU games bundle from participating retailers. Eligible customers will have access to both Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation as well as... AMD Bundles News: Ashes of the Singularity and Total War: WARHAMMER
Thought I'd gone back in time there for a minute They're trying to clear those old FX processors out I think (wonders how many they've got.....). My good old FX6300 is still going and I still think it was underrated CPU - cheap and not unreasonable perfomance.
And great in overclock too. I had mine at 4.5GHz on air and was quite fast. The old FX are still a great deal for the guys who have an AM3 board and no money to switch to Ryzen and DDR4 memory. Moving from an Athlon to a 6-8 cores FX is a big jump in performance. And if one doesn't want to overclock, the system doesn't need a powerful PSU or an expensive motherboard. So they can be still a very good upgrade for cheap computer builds. Not to say that now there will be plenty of them on ebay.
Same here. The main reason I want to upgrade is power efficiency and noise reduction. Also I think there are some bad latency issues that seem to cripple my VR experience. I'll still keep my FX when I upgrade - I have a special purpose in mind for it. But yeah, I'm not sure why AMD wants to be drawing attention to these older products. Maybe they want to make as much money out of them as they can before they release the Ryzen 5 series; once those come out, nobody will ever have a reason to buy any AM3+ CPUs, and whatever price drop AMD puts them at will prevent a returning profit.
Im on FX-8320E since January, im thinking on move to RyZen after November or even wait for the 2nd gen, the first i want is a RX470 + FullHD FreeSync Monitor, all depends on my wallet lol
I am on FX8350@4.8 . Still doing great job. I do not pay any attention on FX prices , since i had it for free
They bundle the two games that these cpus perform worse in.. for the Cherry on top they should've included civilization v
Yeah they're trying to clear stocks. Retailers in Romania have already been doing this for a while because the processors don't sell too well. Not sure why they aren't trying to bundle something else than games with their old 8-core processors. Everyone knows they're not the best for gaming. I suppose rendering software and the likes are too expensive to be bundled with processors.
Nice one AMD, reminds me of the days when they bundled multiple AAA games with their gpus (I got 5 such games with my 7950). Although I think bundling these games with Ryzen would be more reasonable.
