Hey ya'll. So I'm upgrading from an i5-2500k to an i5-7600k, but I'm unsure if my coolers brackets will be able to go onto the LGA 1151 motherboards. Looking at the website, http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/hyper-212-plus/ it says it will fit LGA 1150 motherboards and my understanding is that the mounting holes are the same for both motherboards. Now I bought this cooler in mid 2011, so I'm not sure if that model will still support 1150 mobo's.
Cant answer with complete certainty but I know the Thermaltake HSF I had on my 3770k fit on my build with no issues.
any cooler that was compatible with LGA 1150,1155,1156 will be compatible with LGA 1151. Edit: In layman terms = same holes...
Is it going from 2500k to 7600k actually good idea? You are stuck with same quad-core and you'll have to overclock Kaby Lake to notice some difference. Maybe its just me be but this upgrade is not worth it.
Some people enjoy side-grading. It's like buying another dual core when modern games already optimized for quad cores. I'd pay 50-80$ more for Ryzen 1700 setup and won't worry upgrading for a looong time, like I did with 2500k.
