I figure they'll do alright so long as they launch Vega in the next couple months and it's competitive.

Nvidia has long since established that the Titan line is for impatient people. I'll feel no remorse for anyone that gets suckered by this again if Titan Volta happens.

It's not that complicated... the 1080ti are just gpus that had a defect on a memory controller. So Nvidia disabled a memory controller and associated rops.

    GTX Titan
    - 12 Memory Controllers (1gb Mem chip per Controller)
    - 96 ROPS (8 ROPS per Memory Controller)
    - 384-bit Memory Bus (12 memory controllers x 32bit)
    - 10Ghz GDDR5x (480GB/sec)

    GTX 1080 Ti
    - 11 Memory Controllers (1 MC was disabled)
    - 88 ROPS (So it's 8 ROPS x 11 Memory Controllers)
    - 352-bit Memory Bus (11 x 32bit)
    - 11Ghz GDDR5x (484GB/sec)

The 1080Ti is also clocked a bit higher likely due to improvements with 16nm Finfet process.

The GPU has in fact 11.5 GB but they didn't want to say it has 12 GB because 970 :))

No there isn't. They switched back to the limited release Nvidia editions - they won't be carrying the Ti "Stock" model throughout the lifespan of the GPU like they are with the 1080/1070.

So if founders is 699$ then custom should be 50-100$ cheaper?

I'm willing to bet fall this year latest, not 2018, especially as they're projecting themselves to do even better this year than last. If Vega is as good as we hope, then, within 48hrs we will learn something about Volta. If not, then, it's going to be a price war.

    What does the "st" mean?

What does the "st" after the number of CUDA Cores in the chart mean? I see it next the the number of CUDA Cores for the Nvidia Titan X, GeForce GTX 1080, and Geforce GTX Titan X but not the newly announced GeForce GTX 1080Ti

The price drops are good. Not great, but good. Thank you AMD. I'm going to have to hold on to my 1070 and reward AMD by seeing what Vega has to offer. They get one shot, hopefully Vega delivers. I have to give them something, if not for them, NVIDIA and Intel would still have us all bent over a barrel.

    Just reading the link:
In the meantime, we're giving away 108 GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founder's Edition graphics cards via GeForce Experience.

I'm talking about the pricing. The whole reason for the increased price on the FE cards were because Nvidia was going to continue building them throughout the lifespan of the product. Prior to the FE cards, Nvidia would only sell "reference" models for a few months then let AIB partners pick up the rest.

That's not a fully enabled GP102. It's still only 56 of 60 SM clusters. Just like TXP.

We still have space for the Ultra name to come in. Full GP102 is 3840 cores with 96 ROPs and 12GB of 11Ghz GDDR5x. Call it GTX Titan Ultra.
