Those two comparisons look like the textures didn't load in properly in the "original" version. In my entire time playing the game I don't ever remember seeing a texture that low quality.
This texture pack, with no other mods at 4K, uses almost all the vram on my Titan X, but there seems to be very little benefit for the amount of memory used
Yeah, I just checked some locations with the same textures. The "before" texture are set to medium or lower. While I can see improvement to some textures, it's far from as clear as in these shots. Take the shot with the wheelchair. The groun textures are the same as on the prydwen. Just went there. My textures (without upgrade) look about the same as the "upgraded" shot.
This is lame, so i spend the whole night downloading just to see hardly any difference Guess its back to mods!
I took some screens at 4k and 1440 at vanilla and hi res pack. Again no big difference. Some textures look nicer and those are keeping me playing the game to look for more. You miss the point! Bethesda knows that this pack makes small difference, so they try to sell this 4k nonsense? Typical for them. And some people buy this bs!? And i don't play F4. I did played it for couple of hours, and it's pure crap. Delete!
Yeah, Bethesda never marketed it as "4K" or anything. That was just someone twisting the wording of the announcement around.
The size of Fallout 4 (incl. HR Texture Pack) = 83.02GB (Thanks to 1Gbps FTTH connection, I downloaded the whole thing again and archived it on my NAS).
it is just me? the new texture pack is ate my fps around 5-8fps at 1080p, is it because of my "normal" quad cores? or my gpu doesnt have enough horse power to drive it?
What do you mean "ate my fps"? Its running 5-8fps lower than before or it runs just 5-8fps? There is a video page back showing how rx480 is running 90fps with texture pack installed and card is similiar to yours.
I installed the next texture pack, took a screenshot before to compare but after I loaded the save up afterwards, the perspective had changed so it was impossible to compare even a single thing. I had read that there is no way to turn it off after installation so I thought 'how am I going to get comparions now?' But I walked around and fast travelled to places and literally everything in the game has a marked improvement at 4k maxed. I really think the people who say there is no different must be playing at 1080p because the improvements are everywhere. There was possibly no change in average frames for me, haven't gotten into a heavy enough firefight to test minimums but asside from the 58gb size, performance wise and visuals wise it is definitely worth an install.
There should be a way to disable it. I thought I read there was an option in game to turn it off. And, if that doesn't work, you could just un-click that DLC in the STEAM library under Fallout 4.
I play at 1440p/Ultra (1080p in Far Harbor because of the fog) and I noticed a marked improvement as well. I tend to play slowly and look up close at lots of things, so that probably helps. Worth it for me and for free.
Good to hear someone else is enjoying it too. EDIT: I just started a new game and the detail on everything is insane. Inatead of the sheets on the bed being a blur and some vague colour they are proper high res and with patterns. The mr handy box isn't blurry and objects like the mr handy gas canister are not vague blurry blobs anymore. Water is crisp as hell too and armour textures were always the worst textures of the game and they have been improved considerably.
