    Another question:

Anything on vBIOS signature read/enforce with this WHQL version?

    Is it on?

    On for everyone?

    On for Polaris only?

I installed the whgl 17.1.2 and now WoW works OK for me but I can no longer find Chill anywhere in the settings. Chill was there before.

That is interesting; I would certainly expect madVR not to trigger the bug since it doesn't use Microsoft's codecs/renderers. If EVR triggers it, VMR probably also will. Since I use madVR and software decoding with LAV/ffdshow, I never experience the UVD bug during video playback using MPC-HC but I always experience it as soon as I try to make an Skype call and regularly experience it after playing videos in browser. Unfortunately, it is not possible to prevent either of these cases unless the Media Feature Pack is uninstalled altogether.

I don't know about you but the bug seems to have completely disappeared on my end. I couldn't trigger it, and I'm someone who usually gets it the moment I alt+tab a game and open up a browser. But yes, it is possible that they probably weren't able to fix it for all sorts of software/hardware combinations.

You have not the same setup with him so stfu with your fanboism. He demands a 4 months bug to be fixed. He doesn't cry for nothing. You should grow up.

I did some more testing and it looks like madVR can trigger UVD bug too.
I tweaked some settings within madVR and I made GPU to get stuck :D

It is quite possible that something within renderers makes GPU stuck in UVD clocks, so thats where I will focus now.
Best bet to avoid UVD bug is to use installed madVR with potplayer since built-in is not reliable... MPC needs installed version if I am not wrong, so thats why you avoided bug I guess :D

edit: I am not sure, but MS codecs are not the only one affected. buildin potplayer decoder is FFmpeg and if used with EVR, it will trigger UVD bug every time, with build-in madVR, there is a chance to trigger it and with installed madVR, it kinda never triggers it.

I think we can all agree Windows 10 is in a constant state of beta flux. If Wine had DX12 support I'd probably flip over to Linux.
