    RX 470 4GB or GTX 1060 3GB

Hey Fellas, I need yalls help picking a new graphics card and these two are the max I can spend...The 470 4GB is also $30 cheaper than the 1060 3GB

They are both available in different brands at the same starting price/ we can get to that when I/we choose which is better...

So which one would you choose?...Thanks :)

    PS: I cannot afford a 1060 6GB nor a 470 8GB...

If you get 1060 3GB your new shiny card will have less Vram than your old one. How silly is that? :D

    Forget about 1060 unless its 6GB ver. and get a RX470/480 4GB.

    470 with OC is like a 480.

Compare benchmarks on site and decide from there. To be honest I dont think 3GB on 1060 will be issue for 1080p.

I would definitely go with the RX 470 but maybe I'm a bit biased because I have one and love it.:)

    470. The 1060 3GB should not exist. Now if you can stretch for the 1060 6GB that makes the decision more difficult and would lean towards that. The 3GB cas less Cuda cores than the 6GB. Think of the 3GB as the 1060 and the 6GB as the 1060ti.

    I would avoid PowerColor.

RX470, 3GB is a bit low for modern games.

I've just seen a ton of horror stories about their quality control.

If this is the one you are looking at its a great price. It's up to you on this one bro. I can see why its a tempting offer. The $189.99 one i would avoid as it's a single fan.

I'd go with the the 470. I bought the 8gb 470 Nitro for my brother. The price difference from 4gb was minimal and he only get's to upgrade once every 3 years or so. The 1060 3gb is cut in more ways than one compared to the 6gb version. That being said, at 1080p, 3gb would be enough, you would be lowering settings anyway so 3gb would be fine, it's that the card itself is a little bit worse than the 470 and the 1060 6gb.

Powercolor, I see people use these and praise them, they're always one of the cheapest cards though and I've read some horror stories so I have always avoided them. I tend to sticks with the brands that have never let me down.

Yeah, it is. If I didn't already have an RX 470, I'd be jumping on it.

You and me both. lol It's $40 less after the rebate than I paid for my 470. But, I just had to have it asap at the time. Well, not had to, but certainly wanted to.

Your answer is going to be, whoever likes nvidia is going to say go with the 1060 and whoever uses ATI will say go with the 470 ......... Comes down to drivers and how they perform on todays games and what not......

Between the 470 4GB and 1060 3GB, the 470 is the better option. If he were deciding between the 470 and 1060 6GB, the 1060 would be the better option. Not all of us have a brand loyalty. Hell, I linked an even better deal. A 480 4GB in the same price range as the 470 4GB....lol

not necessarily. There's also people with zero bias on here and when one is clearly better than the other, they'll say just that.

This entire thread proves you wrong. Not a single user has recommended the 1060 3GB.
