Installed it yesterday, and the game seems great.
I play it maxed out, and i get around 40 fps most of the time.
The problem is that when i enter in crowded areas(ex. cities with many cars, lights, pedestrians etc.), i have drops in the 20-25 fps zone, even if i set everything to low!!!
With a quick google-fu, i found many complains about bad performance.
I was about to blame the two cores of my i3, but i think we have a case of bad optimization.
Is there any guru that manage to make the game playable ?

buy i7, this game is unoptimized ****, cannot play it on i5, there is no fix other than playing on i7, when i got i7 all was smooth.

Finished the game. Used Sweetfx graphics mods... really nice. 1440p res ALL maxed out. Some small hitches and glitches. My 1080 with Pailt cooler ran at 72 degrees celsius. Worrying

    What a ridiculous statement.

Game is perfectly playable on an i5. You had a low clocked haswell cpu and the half amount of ram in last config so sure your new skylake cpu is making a difference but going around saying game is not working is just dumb, stop it.

well overclocking the i5 to 4.8 until ur able to play the game???? this precisely gives u indication that its not optimized, perfect comparison is watch dogs 2, or gta V, both run great on and i5 at 3.2, but mafia doesn't, and mafia aswell look like ****e compared to those.

if you check cpu usage you see that it's increased in fps rough times, from my experience at least 4.2 is a fair min OC for i5.

i5 still is very good for gaming, I leave others tell whatever.

2K are releasing a demo for Mafia III today for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
The demo will contain the first Act of the game, and progress can transfer to the full game if players purchase it.

The demo isn't available on STEAM yet, but it should show up this afternoon once STEAM does it's daily updates.
The demo is releasing today along side the "Faster, Baby!" DLC.

I know I'm kind of on my own, but I loved Mafia III and really think people should check it out. While rough around the edges, there's a great story, wonderfully realized characters and some really awesome story missions.

    Yup are are alone
So much negativity around this game that I'm afraid to buy it. :p
I ask other people and they also say don't buy it.
So I will eventually buy it at 75% sale I guess, hoping theirs no bugs when I do, I'll survive repetiveness.

I picked it up on a sale and it isn't as bad as it is made out to be. There are still some major technical problems like cars spawning in the ground (as in only half showing) and I would expect stuff like this to be a priority before adding more content but the story is interesting and engaging, I'll give it that.

I don't think the story alone should sell the game though, as it still has problems but if you can pick it up cheap, I'd say it's not a bad purchase.

Full price, GTFOH - at least not in it's current state. I'm not sure if this update has done much to address technical issues.

Thank you for the heads up. I always want it to try this game but based on bad reviews and the high price i held off buying it. Now hopefully with the Demo i will get a taste of it.

    I'm okay with that.
Honestly, I had more fun with Mafia III then I had with a lot of other titles.
Yes, some of the missions can get repetitive... but, the story and characters is fantastic.

And, the main story missions are awesome.
Plus, the world and atmosphere is spot on. I actually want to get the DLC, but, I'm cheap. So... sale I wait for.

I started a brand new game.... so far, it seems much more solid then it did at release.
It is still missing some PC options, and graphical options that may seem "common ground" for an open world title.
But, there's still a good selection of options.

Performance is still not what you'd think it should be, but it runs smooth enough to be more then playable. And better then the 30fps it was at release.

They seem to have fixed some of the graphical issues I ran into when it was first released. And, there's been a lot of free DLC content added to the game on top of the fixes.
For ten bucks, I personally think it's a no brainer. A fantastic story, with great characters and engaging voice acting/dialog.
A beautifully realized world with atmosphere and personality. A great use of the time period (vehicles, music)... some solid, chunky gunplay... and while rather basic, a functional stealth system.

There's some filler, side missions can get repetitive... but, the game also gives you tools to use to try and make them more interesting. Stealth, guns blazing, call in support... but, it can get repetitive.
But, the main story missions are great. Cut-scenes are amazing.

Where exactly can you pick this game up for a 'Tenner' ?

Edit, oh I see you can buy the base game from cdkeys.com for £12.

May check it out thanks for the heads up

Wish the Season Pass was on a discounted price.
I can grab the game off GMG for like15 bucks, but the Season Pass is still 30. Sucks.
Specially since the Season Pass is all story content.
