There doesn't seem to be much excitement surrounding the release of this game on PC and the reviews so far have been rather middling, suggesting an above average game in the vein of the previous ones rather than an outstanding and innovative one.

I am interested but the fact that it can only be bought from the Windows Store is offputting. I much prefer my games to be tied to Steam just for convenience plus Steam works unlike the slow and clunky Windows Store (which doesn't even bother to place a desktop shortcut post-install!).

Given the less than fantastic PC release of Dead Rising 3 on PC, I think some people are a bit cautious about this one.
Specially with a lot of the leads on DR4 having never worked in the DR series before.

I loved DR1 and enjoyed DR2-OTR but just couldn't get into 3, I'll try again sometime.

I've looked at videos of this, interviews with the devs etc and they seem to have no grasp on what made DR1 great to the point they have removed pretty much everything that made dead rising, dead rising.

Think I'll just pick up the PC DR1 in the steam xmas sale instead.

Yeah that was such a poor as hell attempt at a port.

They never patched the many issues.

    Expect similar support for DR4.

Capcom tend to sway back and forth on PC quality. They will go from absolutely amazing PC releases (DMC4 and RE5) and then swing back to flawed messes (DR3)...

Hopefully, they are back in an upswing and learned something from their past few releases.

Im fine with DR3, like it more then DR2. The only issue is occasional crappy texture streaming, takes a few moments to maxout texture detail.

Supposedly it will be on Steam after the 90 day exclusivity deal. Shame this isn't one of their play anywhere titles though.

Yeah, you'd think that they would still have a pre-order page for the Windows store version though.

Win10 Store has some really quirky pricing, even more expensive than Steam which is quite a achievement really. :p

Standard version of the game is 550 SEK, season pass is 199 SEK (Making both 750 SEK in total, this is important.) and the deluxe edition (Bundle of the main game and season pass, remember the 750 SEK figure?) is 899 SEK. :p

Retail PC games here tend to be around 300 - 400 SEK, Steam hovers around the 500 SEK range due to their direct USD to EUR pricing conversion heh.

(And those green gloves are part of the standard edition already.)

I can't even access the Windows Store here in the UK at the moment... I just get an endless swirling animation. Same for the Xbox app. My internet appears to be working fine as I have been accessing my regular sites, including this one, so is the Microsoft site down?

Can anyone download the X-Fists content? It says "Error - See Details" for me and I can't find these mythical details anywhere.

Also the Vsync seems to be double buffered so I'm having to play it at 1080p instead of 1440p just so it doesn't drop which isn't great for a 980Ti Xtreme.

Yes, same error here but I assumed it was because the game hadn't finished downloading yet.

As for the framerate, I thought all Windows Store games ran in borderless window mode and therefore are already supporting triple buffering?

EDIT - I've just seen the graphics options... try running the game in borderless mode to get around the double-buffering issue.

Well I played this game for nearly four hours last night and really enjoyed it. It's fair to say that this is pretty much more of the same, Dead Rising 3.5 if I'm entirely honest, but the gameplay is fun and I found it extremely enjoyable exploring the large environment looking for upgrades and new weapons. There also seems to be a lot more humour in the writing and Frank (who now looks nothing like his original character model by the way) seems to be always sprouting amusing one-liners. The camera is also back, offering not only night vision modes (which you really need in this game as overall it is much darker... literally... than the previous games) and a scan mode which is used to solve simple puzzles by looking for clues then photographing them.

It's all very entertaining, although like previous games the core gameplay of killing hordes of zombies can get repetitive. Thankfully, Capcom have ditched the time limit for missions, the world now seems much larger (you start off in the original game's Willamette Shopping Mall) and so far I haven't had to escort a single survivor (although I have rescued a few). I am currently on level 18 and the game offers up the usual array of Skills to increase inventory slots, health, weapon abilities and so on. As I said it's all very by-the-numbers for a Dead Rising game; if you enjoyed the previous games and are clamouring for more then this will certainly hit the target.

Visually the game looks OK but not as impressive as it initially seems from the brief "dream" tutorial scene. There's plenty of detail though, textures are fine for an open world game of this nature and overall modelling is good. The only thing that looks off is some of the lighting, for example, you can take a selfie (seems to be all the rage in games these days since Watch_Dogs 2 also has this feature...) but Frank's face can look really odd, like in Quantum Break where the rim of the eyes and mouth have a white outline and make the person look like a plastic doll or something! There's also a lot of visible texture seaming where the edges of walls meet (which goes from white to yellow for some reason when using TAA). Overall the graphics are acceptable but not exactly a leap beyond Dead Rising 3 IMO although the engine does a good job of handling dozens of zombies onscreen at once.

Framerate on maxed out 2560x1440 settings with dynamic load enabled seems perfectly fine and feels like it is hitting 60 fps for much of the time on my system. There is some slowdown during battles with hordes of zombies, especially when explosions or fancy effects are going off but they are brief and don't impair the gameplay in any serious way. I'm not sure what the dynamic load thing is doing but it does seem to stabilise the framerate without downgrading the image quality noticeably.

I'm surprised that so few people are talking about this game. Is everyone else waiting for it to come to Steam then?
