    Yeah more then likely.

Still that sounds kinda like a odd number to me.

You answered your own question. 980Ti is toned down because you need to OC it to beat a stock Titan X. you know you can overclock Titan X as well, right? people who have slower GPUs always say "if i overclock i can beat faster GPU", yeah well people who have faster GPUs can overclock theirs too..

newsflash volta will not be magical either, nor will whatever comes after it. you'll wait forever.

For my newsflash its only a magical card if its 2x faster then current OC'ed 980ti..
Something even Max OC'ed TitanXP isn't.. High end Volta will be for sure, just like AMD Navi,. You can count on that ;)

You're not understanding my question. How can a 1080ti be a toned down Titan X if the 980ti is a toned down Titan X? How is the 1080ti any kind of upgrade from a 980ti then?

Because it will be faster than a 1080?

    I don't get your question

So the performance of the 1080ti will fall somewhere in between the 980ti and the Titan X? The Titan X stock is only marginally faster than a 980ti stock so we're talking like a 3% gain in performance on the 1080ti vs the 980ti?

Edit: Looking at benchmarks I don't think the Titan X is even 3% faster than the 980ti. So basically the 1080ti will be a 980ti with more VRAM?

    A normal gtx 1080 is around 30% faster then a 1070/980ti, lets say the gtx 1080ti will be around 50 - 60% faster then a gtx980ti/gtx1070.

He means Titan X Pascal, not the old Titan X.

1080 Ti will be alot faster then a 980 Ti.

TitanX - Pascal.. Not GTX TitanX. So it will be faster then 1080GTX, but obviously slower then TitanX(P)..

But imo not fast enough to be a really worthy upgrade for someone with a OC'ed 980Ti+, well unless you're happy with 20-35Fps difference, I personally am not and literally want 100% faster, especially min fps..

Omg there's 2 Titan X's? That's so confusing. Why would they use the same name?

20-35 fps is all I need for 4K.

Running out of letters i guess, they already used Titan Z for the dual card.

They could always call it something other than Titan.

Its not confusing as one is Maxwell and the newer one is Pascal. The problem is that some people dont explain which one there referring too whether TXP or TXM....simple really.

    about £850

The prices of the 10 series are absurd, taken about a 60-80% leap in price over the 9 series.

I bought my 980 Ti (Super Jetstream) over a year ago for over £420
