Rockstar are going after the double dippers. They keep the PC version "secret" so that people will buy the console version first, then when it comes to PC they'll buy it again. This strategy worked with well with GTA V. The reason RDR never got ported to PC was because the code was a mess and it would have been too much work. I can't imagine they would ignore PC completely in this day and age, that would be leaving a lot of money on the table.
I went to PAX twice, once in 09 and I went a couple months ago this year. In 09 it was dominated by consoles, this year it was mostly PC. PC gaming is much bigger than it has been in a while, I honestly can not see companies as big as R* ignoring the pc player base. I suppose we are used to being crapped on but I would love RDR on pc! PLEASE!
well we constantly find ourselves with consoles ports, very very few games are pc games, optimization issues aswell, what do we gain?? u say u found that mostly pc now, but devs keep churning out console ports on all AAA games, its good that we have bf1 and bf4 to give this edge for pc gaming, and the upcoming star citizen, but i want to see pc gaming dominating again, console marketing is a huge matter right now, u never see an advertisement for pc, u always have ps4 and xbox one at the forefront..
Consoles are still the bigger market, until that changes then they will receive the largest marketing. I personally couldn't care less, console ports are more often than not in better condition than PC exclusives. It's only a pain when the PC gets excluded, and while i understand that PC development takes time away from console development, Rockstar aren't exactly struggle when it comes to cash and considering GTA V sold really well on the PC, they are at least guaranteed a very healthy return.
Actually the code for the PC is not complicated as you guessed it. Yes it was too hard with previous consoles but in the present consoles use x86 architecture. I don't think it is really hard and require too much work right now but undoubtly they need serious time for the port.
Wondering if they release a High Resolution Pack again because they promised higher texture resolutions but the game is only 12GB...
Game has been delayed until spring 2018. Some sweet new screenshots have been posted: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60210/Red-Dead-Redemption-2-Is-Now-Coming-Spring-2018
Guessing..... hmmm.. 2019/2020 release date for pc, seeing as the pc was not mentioned in that article, only the boner and sloped netflix player. These two screenshots are pretty good. Spoiler
FXAA is the work of the devil. I'd rather have no AA. It doesn't look like it, this is Rockstar after all. Could be a new way of rendering haze or something like that.
Aliasing is the work of the devil, loaded up Crysis again recently and the game looks awful because of the aliasing and that is set to 8x. Screenshots don't blurry to me, hazy yes.
I do hope this come sout on the PC, it is a game that all gamers deserve to enjoy reguardless of platform.
