why would you want to upgrade from 970 to 980ti especially when there is a 1070-1080?

Plenty of 980ti`s on ebay....half the price of a 1080 and just as fast and cheaper than a 1070.

    well that Classified 2.0+ @ 1190mhz looks great for just $359.99 vs $400-450 1070gtx.

And at 1400mhz+ it easily beats OC'ed 1070gtx, also it can get much closer to 1080 territory then 1070..

EDIT: although it can get a little hot, still..

I remember looking at this card back then, but then I decided on zotac 3slot - this never goes over 68C

    Hi there

Not sure, but personally I would get GTX1070 right now,GTX980Ti is still great card, but this particular is not the best and those temps are bit worrying for me,have run Titan X with stock blower and really you don't want to hear that noise at full RPM,looking at noise rating at 42dB is not quiet card or quietest card on market

Hard to recommend when budget allows I would go with GTX1070,have look on Palit or ZOTAC GPU,those cards are usually quietest

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,Jura

I'd like to say my decision to wait to get a 1070 was very nice. I'm sticking to 1080p as well and the only game that gave me trouble was battlefield 1 open beta on 4k dsr but that might be due to non optimization. I'm good with 60 fps though so 144hz might be a sure thing with 1080 depending on what game you will run.

I really think getting the newer card will benefit more since the new updates in drivers will focus on the 10 series.

I'm afraid so, the ACX cooler will get notably noisy past certain fan speed. Hence I replaced mine with AC Xtreme IV.

Apart from that I can recommend EVGA cards and the 10 series cards use a newer version of the cooler which should be better...

    Hi there

If you can get Zotac AMP Extreme then you will have pretty much great temps, have GTX1080 AMP only and that card is running hotter than AMP! Extreme

Shame about Palit is not sold in USA

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,Jura

If you can get the AMP Extreme 1070 that would be a good idea. 980 TI is great card for 1080p but if you can get the 1070 i would go for it.

    Hi there

On those both cards are missing reviews and due this I can only speculate on performance and if they're quiet or not

My AMP Edition with two fans is very quiet and at 90-100% you can only hear that card,my fan profile is pretty much very aggressive(75-85%) as I'm running two cards next to each other and temps are OK around 75-77C under very heavy load

    Thanks,Jura

Hey I've seen some of your posts and I have a question. What's the ambient temp in your room?, My Gaming X gets 62c on load and maybe 65c under heavy load and that was with B1 beta. I do however live in the Pacific NW though so temps are not crazy high like in Cali for example.

    Hi there

My ambient temps are in 21-23C range, outside temps range from 16-20C,I've turned central heating right now at 25C

I'm monitoring my temps through the few probes like inside the case and outside the case plus have one thermometer too

I think only one game which is taxing GPU to max is Mafia III where card starts to downclock from 1944MHz to 1860-1870MHz which is stock boost on that card

In rendering in Cycles(Blender) clocks are around 1900MHz mark,in LuxMark clocks are pretty much same,DAZ3D clocks stays for while in 1920MHz then downclocks to 1900MHz(+/-),PoserPro clocks stays for while like above

I need to test card more in other games as right now not sure why is downclocking and need to time to OC card too,my Titan X SC running stable 1450MHz on air(cooled by Rajintek Morpheus II and EK Vardar fans)

As I said,I'm running two cards which are close to each other and this can be my problem with higher temps, looks like best is put on this card AMP Extreme BIOS,still I didn't done that and looks like I will be doing that this week as I got new PSU(Seasonic X1250W)

Yours temps are really great there, what yours fan profile is?

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,Jura

I'll have to check when I get home but I think it's 30-40% 30c-40c, 45-60% 40-55c, 65% 55c an above. You can only hear the card 85% and above which is nice. I really luv the cooling and it never down clocks in games.

It might be that you are using both cards that it down clocks because of it. H20 the only way for that setup me thinks but costly. But I'm only running 1080p might be the reason my temps are low even under load but I'm usually in a cold spot of the house, the weather is bad though and I've got a heater going and still get my usual temps.
